Marath mostly makes a horde of 1/1 tokens, around which most of the deck's combos revolve. Her damaging ability is useful against the smaller utility creatures, and rules the board if she gets deathtouch. A few of the deck's creatures especially enjoy her ability to generate +1/+1 counters; I otherwise rarely use that ability.

I avoid most cards that give a static increase to power and toughness because I want Marath to die when I remove the last counter, so that I can recast her.
