Firesong and Sunspeaker

Concept

FSSS are a unique commander in that they are spell-centric in Boros. They focus on amplifying damaging spells, by giving them lifeline, and lifegain spells by triggering additional damage. Since burn is a anemic archetype in EDH, we're going to focus on damage-doubling and rerouting effects.

How It Plays

The idea is to spend the game trying to set up one-off explosions that either devastate the pod, or propel us to a incredible life-total.

This list is susceptible to disruption because of the highly-costed Commander, and setup of plays that takes multiple turns.

Card Selection

• Damage doubling cards Dictate of the Twin Gods, Furnace of Rath synergize with rerouting effects Mogg Maniac, spitmare , Boros Reckoner, Repercussions and Stuffy Doll to multiply the damage, since the damage dealt to, as well as the triggered damaging ability, are doubled separately.

• Aetherflux Reservoir is the main life-centric won condition. Additional effects are a liability since the primary life gain source is FSSS in a mass-damage event (during which it most likely does).

• Blasphemous Act, Star of Extinction, Earthquake and Rolling Earthquake are our primary lifegain events to build around.

• Lightning Helix/Warleader's Helix are powerful spells when FSSS is in play because they trigger FSSS's "life-gain? Deal 3" ability since they both have lifelink AND gain you 3/4 life upon resolving. This causes FSSS to deal 9/10 and gain you 6/7 respectively.

• Neheb, the Eternal and a spread of Mana Rocks ramp is to the 6-drop commander quickly.

• Treasonous Ogre allows us to convert life into Mana, useful for risky spells or after we've already gained a hundred life.

• Mana Geyser is a huge, underrated ramp spell in red.

• Balefire Liege is a backup version of FSSS in case they become un-castable from the tax
