Eruth, Tormented Prophet

This deck is absolutely balls to the wall, and let me tell you, it is AMAZINGLY fun! We don't care about the combat step at all so that makes it easier to figure out what to do and to remember triggers (something I'm trying to get better at).

So, what does this deck want to do?

  • Burn, burn, burn with our various cards that deal direct damage to opponents
  • Turn all of our card draw into impulse draws to use immediately
  • Finish the game out in one huge turn

Our turns are mostly going to look like this on a good day:

  1. "I impulse draw for turn."
  2. "I cast (card that draws) to impulse draw X times."
  3. "I cast (big spell)."
  4. "I cast (instant/sorcery), you all take X damage directly."
  5. "I cast (instant/sorcery), you all take X damage directly."
  6. "I cast (instant/sorcery), you all take X damage directly."
  7. "I cast (instant/sorcery), you all take....."

That's the hope at least. We need a lot of mana to do this, so Storm-Kiln Artist, Birgi, God of Storytelling  , and my new personal favorite card, Urabrask   are ABSOLUTELY essential to pulling off that one huge turn. Once we hit the stage where all of our 3 CMC spells pay for themselves, then the game is essentially won.

When it comes to avoiding death, Ensnaring Bridge is an all-star. It is easily the best card in this deck since we will almost never have any cards in hand, so no creatures can attack anybody. We skip our combat step, so why shouldn't our opponents as well?

There are 25 cards in the deck that will draw us more cards. If all goes well, we should be able to see ~75 plus cards in a game assuming we aren't outright killed (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). I think a quarter of our deck being able to draw more of our deck is reasonable, but suggestions are welcome!
