ArmchairRuler on How will Eruth, Tormented Prophet …

I am thinking of adding Zur's Weirding to my Eruth, Tormented Prophet deck to help even out the drawback of having my card revealed every turn. My question is how will Zur's Weirding interact with Eruth's effect? Is this dependant on which was played more recently? Can I play Zur's Weirding then play Eruth to negate the drawback only for myself?

ArmchairRuler on Will Jacob Hauken, Inspector still …

I have an Eruth, Tormented Prophet deck in the making, and I want to include Jacob Hauken, Inspector  Flip in the deck if possible. Like the title states, I want to know if Jacob's activated ability will still work correctly if I have no cards in hand due to the replacement effect that Eruth has. I assume that since exiling a card from hand isn't part of the cost of activation that it would work still, but I am not %100 certain.

With Eruth, Tormented Prophet, you'll be playing most of the game without a hand. Cards like Spellbook won't do too much, as there's already no limit to the number of cards you can impulse draw with Eruth. If you're going for the no hand strategy, cards like Goblin Lore, Breakthrough and Faithless Looting are really strong. Cards that benefit from having nothing in your hand like Ensnaring Bridge are fun, and stuff like Lion's Eye Diamond (if you can get your hands on one) and Avaricious Dragon that forces you to discard your hand are fun, too. I'm not sure if Alhammarret's Archive works as you're not technically drawing cards. Bosium Strip is underrated and fun to throw into any spellslinger deck, especially Eruth because you'll be casting a lot each turn, so your graveyard won't have too many creatures and whatnot. Bonus Round is great too. Wild-Magic Sorcerer is pretty stupid with Eruth. Here's a deck I made you might want to check out: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/eruth-edh-2/

Polaris on Harmonic Prodigy and triggered abilities

1) Yes, that's correct. Prowess is a triggered ability, so it will trigger twice. Adeliz's ability is similar.

2) Soul-Scar Mage's second ability is a replacement effect. It's not a triggered ability and doesn't use the stack, and Harmonic Prodigy doesn't affect it. Triggered abilities give a time (when, whether, at the beginning of, etc). Replacement effects are written "if X, Y instead" and replace the event they refer to as it happens - the original event doesn't happen at all, only the replacement event. By contrast, a triggered ability waits for the event to happen and then does something afterward.

3) Eruth, Tormented Prophet's ability is also a replacement effect ("if you would draw a card, exile the top two cards of your library instead"). Harmonic Prodigy doesn't apply.

Clyde96 on Harmonic Prodigy and triggered abilities

Hi, I'm building a wizards tribal prowess deck and I want to include Harmonic Prodigy but I have some questions regarding its second ability:

1.) From what I understand, if I have Harmonic Prodigy on the board, my other wizards with prowess will get +1/+1 and then trigger again for a total of +2/+2 for each instant/sorcery cast. I assume the same goes for Adeliz, the Cinder Wind's second ability, she will buff herself and the other wizards +2/+2 for each instant/sorcery.

2.) What would happen if I had a Soul-Scar Mage and a Harmonic Prodigy and I used Lightning Bolt to some creature. Would it get -3/-3 or -6/-6 counters due to the ability triggering a second time?

3.) And what about Eruth, Tormented Prophet's ability. Would I get to exile 2 or 4 cards if I had Harmonic Prodigy on the battlefield and I draw a card?

Thank you in advance!

Update 11/27/2021

In- Thassa's Oracle

Out- Counterspell

Just a few games of gettting Eruth, Tormented Prophet into play made me realize I absolutely have to have Oracle in the deck now. With Eruth the deck draws through itself quickly. Adding an additional way of winning also never hurts.

Update 11/15/2021

In- Eruth, Tormented Prophet and Wash Away

Out- Trinket Mage and Blood Moon

The change of Wash Away for Blood Moon is one that will take playtesting to determine if I actually like the change. However being able to use a single blue mana to counter someone's commander his very powerful and I fell deserves a slot in the deck.

The change of Eruth, Tormented Prophet for Trinket Mage is a change that I fully expect to stay changed in the list. Trinket Mage was 99% of the time used to tutor up Sensei's Diving Top to start chaining artifacts while abusing Jhoira's draw mechanic. Eruth gives us a similar option. By having artifacts in hand and both Eruth and Jhoira on the field we see the same number of cards as we do when we utilize top. However Eruth gives us the added benefit of being Legendary at the cost of adding red to the cost. I think this should be a great addition to the list and look forward to playing with the card and seeing how it performs
