At the beginning of your upkeep, you gain 2 life for each Shrine you control.

atroxknight So, as of right now the primary win condition is draining through Sanctum of Stone Fangs, and so far in testing it has been really strong. generally to get to a high shrine count, i will wait to play it until i have at least like maybe 10 shrines out in play. before that point I have a few sources of life gain that are pretty significant like Herald of the Pantheon, Sythis, Harvest's Hand, and Honden of Cleansing Fire. I really like including Havoc Festival as a backup to Erebos, God of the Dead if I find I am going against a deck that uses life gain as one of it's main engines (example would be Celestial Mantle).

Dovescape is kind of a gem in this deck, I think, because we have 2 cool ways to play into it while we stax our opponents. For instance Destiny Spinner completely negates the effect for us, and also we can play our stuff and let it get countered, then just recur it with Go-Shintai of Life's Origin.

With that being said, Havoc festival is kind of a dead card if we are falling behind on life and resources, but then again so would erebos. I haven't had an issue with either in my games so far, but I will definitely keep that in mind.

Fair ShiltonCDXX, I just like Ugin a lot so i'm kind of biased, although who wouldn't like Ugin? Also to the creator here, some other shines that I think would have been great to add would be Honden of Cleansing Fire , or Honden of Night's Reach . But only if you were gonna play historic with this.

StuPickles on M21 Shrines and other "Shrines"

Hi there, was looking into building a 5 color shrine deck seeing how there are technically 11 in total now. Honden of Cleansing Fire Honden of Infinite Rage, Honden of Life's Web, Honden of Night's Reach, Honden of Seeing Winds. as well as the new ones from M21 Sanctum of All Sanctum of Calm Waters Sanctum of Fruitful Harvest Sanctum of Shattered Heights Sanctum of Stone Fangs Sanctum of Tranquil Light

Now I pretty much know the answer to this question will be No, but im hopeful regardless because shenanigans. Do cards like Shrine of Boundless Growth Shrine of Piercing Vision Shrine of Limitless Power Shrine of Loyal Legions Shrine of Burning Rage count towards the number of shrines you control? Technically they are shrines and in the enchantments text, looking for "Shrines you control" doesnt specifically state whether it needs to be an enchantment or artifact, only that it is a shrine. I know this is a stretch but are there any other instances of cards that have a similar or relatable technical problem like this that it can be compared to?

I am trending away from global enchantments in favor of repeated life gain or creature generation in this batch of edits. I made sweeping edits in several categories:

  • Lands

Swapped out 8 Plains for Cryptic Caves, Desert of the True, Encroaching Wastes, Idyllic Grange, Karn's Bastion, Labyrinth of Skophos, Radiant Fountain and Secluded Steppe.

  • Defensive Auras

Upgraded Pious Interdiction to Recumbent Bliss (which would potentially provide many instances of life gain instead of 1) and dropped Bonds of Faith in favor of Gossamer Chains.

  • Offensive Auras

Upgraded Chosen by Heliod to Soaring Hope, Hope Against Hope to Spirit Mantle, Indomitable Will to Gift of Immortality and Ordeal of Heliod to Sunbond.

  • Sorceries

Upgraded from Blessed Reversal to Aetherflux Reservoir, Plea for Guidance to Silent Sentinel and added Pegasus Stampede for more ETB creature triggers.

  • Vanilla Creatures

Swapped out generic flyers (Armored Pegasus, Concordia Pegasus, Loyal Pegasus, Mistral Charger, Stormfront Pegasus, Wingsteed Rider) for ones with more ability or utility (Pegasus Charger, Plated Pegasus, Eiganjo Free-Riders).

  • Relevance

Bigger is not necessarily better so I opted to swap out Serra Avatar for Danitha Capashen, Paragon.

  • Defense and Removal

I swapped out Elspeth Conquers Death and Ghostly Prison in favor of Sacred Mesa and Monastery Mentor and Giant Killer for Frontline Medic.

  • Boost

I also replaced 3 boost effects (Commander's Insignia, Dictate of Heliod, Honor of the Pure) with 3 alternate win conditions (Test of Endurance, Felidar Sovereign, Archon of Redemption).

  • Life Gain

Replaced 3 less efficient or reliable life gain sources (Soldier of the Pantheon, Righteous Cause, Honden of Cleansing Fire) with better ones (Soul's Attendant, Auriok Champion, Pious Evangel / Wayward Disciple, Linden, the Steadfast Queen, Answered Prayers).

cdkime A huge yes to the Seven Towers. And I was thinking Inception for the dream world; I haven't gotten to any of the Wheel of Time series. Sounds like the same sort of inspiration, though. The Underdark and Avatar ones were my inspiration for those first two.

Funkydiscogod I did think about that, but there's also Squall , Honden of Cleansing Fire , Desert Twister , Torment of Hailfire , Dirtwater Wraith ...
