Omnath, Locus of Sac

My commander is Omnath, Locus of Rage . My strategy is to ramp hard early, so I can just cast Omnath quickly, before any players (particularly blue players) can or remove him. I take advantage of draws, to have more ways to get tokens, and Omnath out.

I like Omnath, because of the idea of having big dumb creatures kill opponents without having to attack.

P.S. There are better cards out there (especially for the lands), but I don't have them right now, and some are pretty expensive for me to get right now.

Difficulties

I'm not sure how to play against players with many counter spells, spot removal, or mass removalWhenever my playgroup plays against me, their removals are always through exile, or bounce. I'm not sure if I should just:

  • Ramp through it, and keep recasting Omnath.
  • I should have more creatures that could threaten the board so Omnath wouldn't get locked down.
  • Should I get cards like City of Solitude or Dosan the Falling Leaf so that they can't lock me down.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate counterspells, and I get the threat that Omnath puts on board if you let him be. But getting focused by counters, and removals to the point where doesn't see the light of day at all just isn't fun. I just want to know of ways I can play around this.

I don't know what's too much

I can't decide whether I'm playing too much permanents that allows me to play extra lands. Or too much token multipliers. I would like to know if I'm doing an o3. verkill.

I'm not sure when to cast Omnath

I don't know whether I should rush cast Omnath, THEN just wait for the pieces like Warstorm Surge, Perilous Forays, Amulet of Vigor, Horn of Greed , or Elemental Bond for the draw engine.

OR

Get said pieces out first, THEN cast Omnath.

Burgeoning has been doing wonders for me so far, having four lands in turn 2 is nice. Plus Goblin Bombardment gives me an instant sac w/o mana cost.
