Maybeboard

Wanna make creatures big? I mean... REALLY big. I'm not talkin' about no 12/12's here sonny boy, we are talkin' about let's get some 20/20+ creature out. And copy it. And copy it again maybe. And it has Double Strike and Trample and Haste and what has science done!?!?

That is the goal of Timmy Tyranid. Make the biggest creatures ever seen that turn heads at any table! Experienced players will say "Yep, that's Tyranids!" but inside they will be weeping. Inexperienced players will not know what to do.

The strategy is this. During the first 4 turns you are trying to establish 3 things: Ramp, Trample, & Haste. Right now I'm light on universal trample effects but many of my critters come with trample pre-installed, so hopefully not crippling until I can obtain another copy of Sphere Grid. Once you've established this tri-force of magic might, Magus Lucea Kain can come out (hopefully under some kind of protection). Then the music starts playing and the shenanigans begin; just start powering out rockin' critters.

Magus is a mana dork that gives out +1/+1 counters, but more than that she copies X spells. Look out for cards in the deck like Pemmin's Aura, Freed from the Real, and Unbound Flourishing to double her output or more! If you're not enjoying yourself when you're using Altered Ego to copy your opponent's best creature multiple times and put a metric dumpload of counters on those copies, we're not on the same page here.

There's a modest removal suite for stumbling blocks, but honestly if huge creatures don't work by themselves, Plan B involves closers like All Will Be One, Warstorm Surge, Open Into Wonder and Banefire. I was running Simic Ascendancy in here as well but it's a lame win button in a deck that churns out counters this fast. I took it out immediately.

Though I consider this deck fun as heck, there's an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny problem: the creatures are so large and threatening that every player will take one look at your first disgustingly huge creation(s), take one look at each other, and wordlessly agree to use every tool at their disposal to turn your deck off and/or pound you into dust. To that end, loath as I am to spare any mana from my tenacious Timmy tendencies, there are a few defensive cards in the deck. Leyline of Anticipation and even Kruphix, God of Horizons will make it easier to keep mana up for the likes of Aetherize, Arachnogenesis, Inspiring Call or Jaheira's Respite.

If you have any suggestions to help make this deck even more voracious or more viable, feel free to suggest or comment.
