That Just Sounds Like Ghavery With Extra Steps

Commander / EDH* BUG (Sultai) Infinite Combo Reanimator

I've slowly started modding this deck to be more consistent, and hopefully it will be able to assemble one of its rube goldberg infinite combos more often. The deck has gone through a lot of iterations, beginning as value reanimator, moving through zombie tribal, then ending on this combo-centric build.

I'd describe this deck's current state as "Bad Ghave." It's like Ghave but with fewer pieces available to make the combos work. For reference, the most important pieces are:

A way to make zombies: Sidisi, Brood Tyrant

A way to use zombies: Embalmer's Tools, Altar of Dementia, Snarling Gorehound

A way to sac zombies: Altar, Viscera Seer, Carrion Feeder

A way to get value: Extractor Demon, Gravespawn Sovereign, any anthem effect with Altar

A way to win the game: Gary, Blood Artist, Syr Konrad, the Grim

...With Necrotic Ooze and reanimation to assemble it.

And once you start comboing, Cabal Therapy and Dread Return are effectively free to help you along.

With combinations of these cards and others, I mill myself out and win with Dread & Vigor as my remaining cards in library. To reiterate: This isn't a competitive deck, but due to its ability to play a straightforward gameplan it can usually keep up pressure and do well at my lgs.

Seeing when to go off is a skill I'm trying to improve on. In general, 3 mills across 2 triggers is the minimum required, and might be rocky unless you start with some zombies. For instance, if you have Carrion Crawler, Extractor Demon, and Embalmer's Tools out, you may need 6+ zombies to reliably gain traction when comboing. If you have more than that, you're home free. Path of Discovery + Altar of Dementia gives about 3.6 mills across 2 triggers, and you can usually go infinite starting with 1-3 zombies.

(This deck has a theoretical T3 infinite combo... Like many fast lines, it requires Sol Ring. T1 Land + Sol Ring + Altar, T2 Land + Path of Discovery, T3 Land + Sidisi. Gives you 2 chances to make your first zombie across 4 cards, and each further zombie mills you over 3.5 cards down.

A bit of a shakeup here. My noncreature slots are getting really tight. As for creatures, Tato Farmer is on my watchlist now. It's underperformed the few times I saw it, but I want to hold onto the dream at least a little while longer.

Swamp -> Boggart Trawler. Almost nothing in the deck cares about the land type (Muldrotha, for instance, lets you play this from grave - although Loam doesn't return it). The main issue is cards like necroblossom snarl and sunken hollow, which I hope to replace someday as well.

Graveborn Muse -> Wight of the Reliquary. It's pretty rare to cast Muse. The deck always has a better 4drop, and once you hit 5 you can often double-spell or something. It certainly draws you into a combo when goldfishing but I feel like games often don't play out like that. Wight feels like solid value and it's easier to untap with a 2drop. I could see gamestates where it just swings for lethal, too.

Victimize -> Gossip's Talent. Like I said, the noncreature slots are really sweating now. Victimize I quite like but it's the least efficient reanimate. Gossip's Talent, the first two chapters at least, were obviously designed by a Sidisi player in R&D, they fit so well.

Guess what my creature count is now. Just guess.
