Let Me Take You To...Dragon Town!

Commander / EDH* Dragons

LotsoDoggo2

This is the Ur-Dragon preconstructed deck, with a handful of alterations made by myself. I've tried to prioritize the Fate Reforged Dragonlords, and other cards that allow dragons to synergize with each other.

** What Stays?**

The Fate Reforged Dragonlords - Are they better than their DTK counterparts? Not quite. But, each of them has an ability that cares about other dragons, and they get better the more dragons you have. I find abilities like these fun, so they're perfect for the deck I'm trying to build.

Cost Reducers - Dragonlord's Servant and Dragonspeaker Shaman. The cost reduction The Ur-Dragon provides is already great for playing big, fat, expensive monsters, so why not do it even more?

Teneb, the Harvester - The Primeval cycle and the Time Spiral Primeval cycle are cool cards, but their effectiveness tends to be highly variable depending on who's on the other side of the table. Teneb though? He just brings back your creatures. No color specific shenanigans required. And that's what I want: To play big dragons, attack with them, and maybe play them a second time.

The Ur-Dragon - I know a lot of people bought this exact C17 pre-con, pulled out Ramos, Dragon Engine, and built a deck engineered specifically for him. Is Ramos a better overal commander than Ur-Dragon? Possibly. I'm not denying Ramos' potential, but since this is a deck that wants to chuck dragons at our opponents at every opportunity we rake in a huge benefits from both of UD's abilities

Mana Base & Mana Rocks - I've tried to make some minor adjustments and replacements here and there (Grand Coliseum and Exotic Orchard), but for the most part the original mana base works fine.

Just Plain Good Stuff - I'm not against making upgrades in the future, but the deck did come with some pretty solid cards. Most tribal decks want Path of Ancestry and Herald's Horn. Lightning Greaves, Cultivate, Sol Ring, and Command Tower are perennial Commander staples, and probably always will be. Kindred Discovery is extremely helpful for drawing extra cards. And, finally, Dragon Tempest, Crux of Fate, Frontier Siege, Scion of the Ur-Dragon and Utvara Hellkite enable/encourage exactly the sorts of things this deck wants to do, and would inevitably have found their way into this deck even if they weren't in the pre-con.
