Maybeboard

Sorcery (1)

Creature (1)

Its time for some budget Elves! This was a deck that I put together to play with some friends who aren't really too big on Commander/EDH yet. It was at one point the Guided by Nature Pre-Con deck that was actually my first foray into EDH, all said and done I was able to build this on the cheap with cards I already had and minimal purchasing. I ended up spending just under $40 not including sleeves or tax.

All said and done its a fairly standard Elf EDH, its just going to be missing some of the higher ticket items like Chord of Calling, Collected Company, Craterhoof Behemoth, etc. Those cards that I still really enjoy and would like to get for the deck someday are included on the Maybeboard.

Played the deck for the first time last night and it performed admirably, doing exactly what it was supposed to do. We played a 4 person Planechase EDH game and it was great fun. Through the Elfball prowess of Ezuri I was able to swing a healthy 96 damage with trample at one of the players, and if it hadn't have been for a well timed Black Sun's Zenith I would have cleaned out everyone else next turn.

After the boardwipe, I struggled to recover, as Elves are wont to do. I was able to bounce back enough to start gathering mana en masse again and start pumping some elves, unfortunately I was board wiped again and we had to call the game shortly after that point.

Highlights of this Match:

Turn 1: Sol Ring drop, always a beautiful thing to find Sol Ring in the opening hand

Turn 3: Was able to drop Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury and have a few bodies to protect it

Turn 5: dropped Praetor's Council, One of the Planeschase cards had made us mill the top of our libraries pretty good, so I was able to pop this early, get back some valuable elves and not have to worry about hand size for the rest of the game

Turn ?: Brought out Ezuri, Renegade Leader and with the help of Priest of Titania I was able to pop Ezuri three times and swing for 96 damage with trample, clearing out the biggest threat to my elves on the board.

Updates Add

With the release of Aether Revolt, there are a few things we can add that will help the deck out.

Paradox Engine is the biggest addition in my opinion. I can just envision this out on the field with Priest of Titania and getting basically as much mana as you could possibly use. Should really help us drop Ezuri, and get a ton of mana racked up for his ability to overrun multiple times

I'm also looking into the beloved "Kaladex" Lifecrafter's Bestiary as I love to scry in this deck and the added draw for G is super nice

Planar Bridge and Metallic Mimic will probably find a place somewhere as well, as tutor is a huge plus in the deck and so is having an extra lord floating about
