"bE nOT afRAiD...."

Not sure how else to put this. It's biblically accurate angels!

Set up defense / ramp / draw early game > summon angels on turn 4 onwards> show their true colors by mutating them to their biblically accurate forms > profit.

This may not win games often but it is fun and, if you let your imagination take the wheel, a flavorful experience.

I may change a few things in the future to get it running smoothly and/or fit closer to the theme.

If it's on the main board then I physically own it. Maybe board will contain suggested cards cards that I don't own.

Recommendations always welcome! Note: Mindleecher is a great card but a headache to use in virtual/Webcam games. I set up a Sideboard to reflect its interchangeability with Battle at the Helvault. When using the Saga, we officially include all Innistrad archangels in one deck!

How does this deck win:

There are two possible scenarios based on how the early game draws go, Go Wide or Go Tall. This is probably determined by turn 5 or 6 (yep, it's not a fast deck so don't bring this to cEDH tables).

Go Wide:

Summon out what you can, when you can. Later, use reanimators to keep your supply of creatures going.

Main Play: Focus on getting Liesa, Forgotten Archangel, Breathkeeper Seraph and/or Emeria Shepherd out on the field and keep the pressure on opponents. Mutate only creatures that may help ramp, draw, or summon other creatures. Use Akroma, Vision of Ixidor as a finisher by bumping all creatures with keyword abilities.

Go Tall:

Take advantage of the Mutate abilities and focus on creating high power creatures with Flying, Trample and/or Vigilance.

Main Play: Race to get Brisela, Voice of Nightmares    or other high power creatures and Mutate Nethroi, Apex of Death for that Commander Damage win. Akroma, Vision of Ixidor plays an important role as a Mutate target and power booster. Additionally, Liesa, Forgotten Archangel can help get dead Mutators back from the graveyard to your hand. Utilize limiters like Deafening Silence, Blind Obedience and Void Mirror to slow down opponents.

Personal Victories

This deck won't always win and that's OK. But that doesn't mean we can't have fun. Here are a few scenarios that would make any loss a win in my book.

Briseloi, Apex of Nightmares:

Mutate Nethroi, Apex of Death onto Brisela, Voice of Nightmares    . That's it. We're talking about a beefy 9/10 with Flying, First Strike, Vigilance, Trample, Lifelink and Deathtouch. Getting Brisela Melded is already tough. Mutating her with Nethroi's 7-mana Mutate cost is another hurdle. But if we manage to do it chef's kiss.

Death is Only the Beginning:

Reanimate/recur a minimum of 16 creatures from the graveyard throughout the game. Emeria Shepherd can do the heavy lifting by strategically using our fetchlands and The Mending of Dominaria in the late game.

Armies of Heaven and Earth:

Control and attack with a minimum of 16 creatures in one turn. Nethroi, Apex of Death and Auspicious Starrix are the MVP for this scenario if we can manage to mutate them 3 or more times.

And the Angels whispered softly, "No.":

Control Void Mirror, Deafening Silence, Blind Obedience, Dueling Grounds, Sigarda, Host of Herons, Drana and Linvala, Liesa, Forgotten Archangel, Shalai, Voice of Plenty, and Brisela, Voice of Nightmares     all at once. Yeah, this isn't happening a lot. Specially if we have opponents that run good removal...IF they run removal.

Experience Eden:

Have all basic lands from the deck in the battlefield by the end of the game. Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, Myriad Landscape, Blighted Woodland, Krosan Verge, The Mending of Dominaria, Migratory Greathorn and Auspicious Starrix are our non-conventional ramp cards that can get us there. Ramp instant/sorceries were avoided in this deck since it is easier to bring back lands from the graveyard.

Have Faith and Your Strength Shall Not Falter:

Achieve raising your life to 100 or above. OR Take out at least 1 opponent with Angel of Destiny Most Angels and Nethroi, Apex of Death provide lifelink and large life totals can be achieved if the right cards are drawn from the start of the game.
