When I was making this deck, I really wanted a goodstuff deck that could benefit off of multiple themes in the deck like land destruction, tokens, and lifegain.

The reason I went this route is because so many Queen Marchesa decks end up being pillow fort decks but I feel as though that goes against the gameplan of the deck, as that essentially cuts off the token making ability on her. Even though card advantage is undeniably important in EDH, giving the monarch to other players isn't the end of the world, and so the lifegain theme in this deck is to offset the inevitable attacks that the monarchy will draw without the annoying aspect of having multiple pillowfort cards.
