Balaam__ I agree about building towards a goal that is non-traditional:

Building to win is so Spike, and I wanna win like Timmy or Johnny. I personally think this deck is more Johnny because at first glance.. you might miss some of these key interactions!

I.e.: things like how Zombie Infestation makes bodies that can be tossed for Scourge of Nel Toth, and then replenish your hand with Shadow of the Grave.

Boneyard Scourge is a cool card, but admittedly it isn't eternal format legal... that doesn't mean I won't use his happy ass anyways!

Hi KBK7101,

Thank you for the suggestions. It has given me a few things to consider. Funny story I originally had Nether Traitor in the deck but it started to be too clunky as I tested. I will have to test Tortured Existence and Necromancer's Stockpile. Also Sevinne's Reclamation and Scourge of Nel Toth are things I have not considered before and will need to play around with.

I recently made a Tormod deck partnering him with Esior, Wardwing Familiar. I was debating making it a while I was building it. If I did go Orzhov, it probably would've looked pretty similar to this! Well done!

I do have a few suggestions, though. Tortured Existence is a must. for a zombie token? At instant speed? Definitely an all star in my deck. I'd also recommend Daring Fiendbonder as a way to give a commander indestructible, Necromancer's Stockpile for it's multi-purpose value and Bloodghast, Nether Traitor and Scourge of Nel Toth as threats that will keep coming back over and over. Sevinne's Reclamation is probably also worth checking out.

I hate Grimoire of the Dead people will wait for you to tap this thing till its ready and blow it up before you get to bring them all back. Put a land in its place. 32 lands will leave you screwed on mana way to often. I say this because you have only 1 source of fast mana (Sol Ring). A lot of list that run 32 or less lands make up for it in fast mana like Mana Vault and Mana Crypt and Ancient Tomb and many many more. I'd try to get 35 to 36 lands or get your fast mana otherwise you'll find yourself mana screwed a bit to often. If you find that I'm wrong then disregard.

Moving on

Cut Scourge of Nel Toth for Wound Reflection doubling up on the upkeep trigger can win you the game. Also consider Strionic Resonator and Lithoform Engine. Again copying that upkeep trigger is huge and can win you the game. Milling yourself can benefit your greatly. Mesmeric Orb is a fantastic way to do this.

Personally, I would be a little concerned about your overall CMC with how little in the way of ramp you're running, but I also don't know what kind of power level this is meant to compete at.

Personally, I would cut out at least Scourge of Nel Toth , Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis , and Champion of Stray Souls replace them with lands. Lower your CMC a smidgeon and increase the likelihood of hitting the lands you need to play in the first place.

bradtheimpaler13, thanks for the view and for the suggestions.

Contamination is dirty, I love it.. Definitely going to be an add.. I find I have enough extra creatures.. short of a board wipe, i should be good to keep it up for a while.

I also do want to get rid of a few of the higher CMC cards. So thinking if I dump Scourge of Nel Toth, Sepulchral Primordial, and Yahenni, Undying Partisan (although he is not expensive, he has just never done anything for me), I should be add all three of those.... drop CMC for CMC..

Mj3913 That's true. My concern there would be that it might feel more like a faerie deck if the board state is more often Alela, a few faerie tokens, and a couple of dragons. Building around Ruthless Deathfang, Boneyard Scourge, Scourge of Nel Toth, Keiga, the Tide Star, Kokusho, the Evening Star, Yosei, the Morning Star, Martyr's Bond, Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Altar, and Phyrexian Tower could be interesting. Turning those tokens into other resources would help it feel more like a dragon deck.

Golgari Findbroker Pulls out any permanent from grave, great for Meren.

Meren of Marit Lage That's my Meren deck, though I have a huge side strategy that makes it not as focused as yours, feel free to look through it!

Shriekmaw and Scourge of Nel Toth stuck out to me, Shriekmaw is perfect removal for a Meren deck, pay 1&BLK, kill a creature, and get a EXP counter for Meren. Scourge is admittedly more for flavor then anything else, but why wouldn't you want a flying 6/6 for 2BLK and 2 more EXP counters on Meren?
