Razorkin Needlehead

Creature — Human Assassin

This has first strike during your turn.

Whenever an opponent draws a card, this deals 1 damage to them.

Nice list I play a Rakdos Wheel deck myself. One suggestion might be dropping Psychosis Crawler for a Razorkin Needlehead. About the same effect but then 3 mana cheaper to cast. Reducing mana costs makes a deck more competive.

kamarupa I honestly feel red is the most difficult to do a devotion list with.

I started it out as a punishment deck with Eidolon of the Great Revel, Screaming Nemesis, Razorkin Needlehead and Leyline of Punishment as the core of the deck.

I tried making it into a dragon based devotion list and found it relied too heavily on nykthos to be effective.

In all honesty, I have struggled to make a decent red devotion list due to most red cards having only one red symbol in their casting costs or due to red not being suitable for a midrange strategy outside of skred.

I Love a good Red Aggro Deck! Ash Zealot is one of my personal favorite creatures. If you run her along with Madcap Skills, a fun card to add is Thunderous Might. It can really lead to some explosive turns. It helps to have some other red devotion along with this of course. Which is why I run another of my old favorite hotties, the Burning-Tree Emissary. Razorkin Needlehead seems like it might be worth considering. Monstrous Rage is also really really good. Probably better suited for Monastery Swiftspear and Slickshot Show-Off, but you already have a handful of other buff spells in there, so yeah. Anywho, Good Luck!

Yo, I saw your post on the front page asking about suggestions for edits. All in all, I think your creature base is pretty cohesive. I have plenty of Goad decks in my main play group, and run one myself (Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuserfoil). Some suggestions I have:

  • I think that stuff like Kederekt Parasite and Razorkin Needlehead could be great ways to break parity on the draw that Karazikar will be giving your opponents.

  • Vengeful Ancestor could be another means of repeatedly Goading creatures, especially if Karazikar isn't online yet.

  • If Goad decks don't get focused, they end up playing into a 2nd or 3rd place position, unless you have a means off keeping heat and pivoting. This is especially true if it gets into a 1:1 situation.

  • I think that No Mercy could also be another means of keeping heat off of you. Karazikar reads that you and drawing opponents lose life, which is different from dealing damage. I know this is a pricier option, but could make non-Goaded attackers reconsider heading at you.

  • Last general suggestion would be to maybe switch a few of your Auras with a bit more instant speed interaction. This can definitely be tuned into your budget and meta. A little more creature removal to manage non-Goaded threats could be helpful.

Hey, welcome to TappedOut.net! I would recommend listing you basic lands under one art image so the counts are more accurate. We can chat about the mana base another time.

Here are a few quick suggestions;

Sulfurous Springs - Replace Ash Barrens

Basilisk Collar - Lifelink to keep your HP at a healthy amount and deathtouch for a decent chump-blocker.

Razorkin Needlehead - Ping dmg on opp turns.

Blasphemous Edict - Board wipes are needed along with targeted removal.

Stormfist Crusader - Card draw

Roiling Vortex - This reads, "Yes, yes, and more please."

Scrawling Crawler - Yes, you have your opps drawing more cards, but they will pay for it with their life. You will also draw more cards. Taking advantage of the "symmetric" card draw by making it weighted in your favor.

Florian, Voldaren Scion - Card selection and Card draw.

Underworld Dreams - Ping dmg on opp turns.

Withering Torment - Enchantment removal is extremely rare in Rakdos Colors.

Ankh of Mishra - Ping dmg on opp turns.

Rug of Smothering - Ping dmg on opp turns.

Nightshade Harvester - Ping dmg on opp turns.

Magebane Lizard - Ping dmg on opp turns and keeps spell decks in check.

Cemetery Gatekeeper - Exile someone's fetch land from a GY. Then, whenever a player play a land you ping for 2 dmg.

Malakir Rebirth  Flip - A tapped land with a great spell on the backside.

Reanimate - Any graveyard...

I believe you opened a Bloodthirsty Conqueror!!

Expensive:

Sheoldred, the Apocalypse

Bloodchief Ascension

Orcish Bowmasters

Ob Nixilis, Captive Kingpin

Deflecting Swat

Jeska's Will

Deadly Rollick

Solphim, Mayhem Dominus

Zo-Zu the Punisher - I may have one of these for trade. I'll check.

Dauthi Voidwalker

Opposition Agent

As far a cuts:

Vile Entomber - Easy cut.

Olivia, Crimson Bride I would lose the graveyard reanimator subtheme.

Valgavoth's Lair - With your deck only being in two colors and with no add value for the land being an enchantment (the extra card type becomes more of a risk than reward), I would cut this land.

Enchanter's Bane - Just not strong enough and the damage isn't on your opponents turns.

Mask of Griselbrand - Too expensive to cast/equip and requires the creature to die for the card draw to trigger.

Temple of the False God - Easy cut. The pay off isn't there and the number of times you won't be able to tap this land for mana isn't worth the upside.

Light Up the Stage - There is better card draw.

Braids, Arisen Nightmare - The group slug effect is nice, but a potential cut due to being non-targeted removal/group sacrifice.

Massacre Girl - Black has better board wipes that can't miss.

Ash Barrens - Easy cut for a land more suited to your deck build.

Bloodfell Caves - Easy cut for a land more suited to your deck build.

legendofa your deck is very light on red permanents for Kederekt Parasite to be on a lot, maybe find some room for Razorkin Needlehead?
