Florian, Voldaren Scion

Legendary Creature — Vampire Noble

First strike

At the beginning of your postcombat main phase, look at the top X cards of your library, where X is the total amount of life your opponents lost this turn. Exile one of those cards and put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. You may play the exiled card this turn.

I'm just commenting (even though it's a late comment) to say thank you for helping me realize I could add more infinite to my vampires and make everyone hate it.

Disrupt Decorum is a fun card to just force combat and keep yourself safe for a turn and clean-up right after. Olivia's Wrath is a good boardwipe provided you have enough vampires. Florian, Voldaren Scion has paid off for me to help search and just throw things out. Edgar, Charmed Groom  Flip is a good bit of value as well.

Thanks enpc, but I do have everything from Vampiric Tutor to Grim Tutor. I specifically did not add them because Dragon‘s Approach by itself already has a repetitive gameplay, so I’m not going to narrow it down to tutoring for Thrumming Stone and be done with it. It’s much more fun to dig with Florian, Voldaren Scion and see if you get lucky. I doubt I‘d ever activate Maskwood Nexus. I’d rather spend that on another DA or even on Magar of the Magic Strings but probably Black Market Connections would be the best option here. What I’m looking for is something like Whirlwind of Thought that gains me cards for casting DA.

New Blood is a fun and flavorful card and one can dream of pulling your given example out xD. But yeah, that card can help me disable my opponents' commander and steal scary creatures (my meta consists of decks which can cheat in fat scary creatues) so it is fair to keep that one. Vampire Nocturnus is a gamble, and us Magic players already have a severe gambling addiction. I have Viscera Seer, Bolas's Citadel, Forerunner of the Legion, Florian, Voldaren Scion and simple card draw to help me manipulate my top deck. It is risky but also highly rewarding, giving your tokens a big buff and making them evasive. I am probably gonna cut Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim, since it is not a vampire and not that synergistic.

Really appreciate your input!

Hey, good start, still have 25 cards to cut though which is a lot.

Lets start with cutting noncreature spells and then move to cutting creatures? First cuts to consider:

You can afford to cut a couple of the subpar lands for five colors. Ash Barrens is fine if you want to spend one mana to fetch a basic land, but if you have to play it as a land then it could slow down being able to cast Jodah too much. Shamanic Revelation is not good draw here for five mana. You're much more likely to have a higher power creature than the same number of creatures equal or more than the amount of power.

There's 40 creatures here, but if I was building this deck I would play only 20 of them which includes both nonLegendary Elders. Some advice to consider is choose the 20-25 best Legendary creatures and cut the others? Since you're not playing hatebears, what you're looking for with Legends are getting value from other Legends or casting spells from exile. How they support Jodah because he's the best attacking creature when you control other Legends.

Using Legendary creatures you're currently playing here's how I would break down the priority areas from Legends to keep:

Those who draw, ramp or find other Legends.

Those who make Jodah a better attacker.

Those who help for recovery from removal.

Those who are support, but don't fit into the other areas.

In place of two of the lesser Legends consider Legend tutors, Time of Need and Search for Glory?

Some Legends within the budget to consider adding:

Good luck with your deck.

Olivia Voldaren isn't in Standard, but your playgroup might allow it.

Be more aggressive with Vamps? Think Falkenrath Pit Fighter, not Olivia? More aggressive because the Vamp tribal matters cards here are Vampire Socialite and Gift of Fangs. These cards lean towards wanting more Vamps on the battlefield and being more aggressive with attacking. Turn 1 Falkenrath Pit Fighter, turn 2 Gift of Fangs enchanting Fighter is attacking with a 4/3 turn 2. Fighter can be more draw if it's not useful anymore.

Florian, Voldaren Scion is a good three drop Vamp, holds Gift of Fangs and counters from Vampire Socialite well with first strike. His trigger can be repeatable draw with a lot of card selection first if you're doing nice damage to your opponent with Vamps which being more aggressive with Vamps helps with.

Hey, with Rakdos as Commander then consider some effects that make an opponent lose life without attacking? Rakdos can't be cast without first an opponent losing life and effects that cost no additional mana as well as being repeatable are nice since you want to use your mana on your turn to cast Demons or draw. Get repeatable value while also making your opponent or each opponent lose life.

Cryptolith Fragment  Flip is ramp and an enabler for Rakdos. Plague Spitter is a hidden gem, repeatable 1 damage to each creature at your upkeep can wreck opponent token strategies especially Spirits who are flying blockers against Demons and opponent's green mana dorks. Lower mana cost options, less than 4 mana, are better since they can potentially be cast before Rakdos.

With Rakdos as Commander and playing Demons you need less ramp because he's a source of ramp for Demons. For this reason I would make draw more important then ramp. Still play some ramp, but more draw lets you draw Demons to cast using Rakdos mana cost reduction.

For more draw my advice is make cards with repeatable effects a priory for upgrades. Draw spells that are a single effect are fine too, having both is best. Seize the Spoils, Big Score and Unexpected Windfall is loot (draw and discard) and ramp with treasures, that's really helpful for Demons to get three effects with one card.

If you're interested I offer more advice in another comment. Would you like more advice?

Hey, I'm not familiar with MTG Arena, but is it difficult to get 4x of a card? I ask because you're entire deck minus lands is 1x and 2x of cards which is not good for consistency. Playing 4x of a card means you'll have more chances to draw it in a game where as if all cards are 1x then you may never draw that card in a game.

The color pie shows you need an equal amount of black, red and white color sources and that's not really doable with a 15 basic land three color mana base. Some advice is play Rakdos Vampires and only splash white with dual lands as well as 4x Secluded Courtyard for a few cards? Other than the dual lands the rest of your deck is low budget because of this I'll give lower budget card suggestions.

When you play tribal you really want a reason to be in the tribe. For Vampires there's only two cards here that are tribal, Edgar, Charmed Groom  Flip and Vampires' Vengeance. Edgar is legendary meaning you can't have more than one of him in your control which sucks since he's a Vamp lord. Other than Edgar and Vengeance there's really no reason to be playing all Vamps and Vengeance is more of a sideboard card against aggro opponents then main deck.

4x Vampire Socialite can be a reason to play Vamps because being aggressive with Vamps then makes Vamps bigger when Socialite enters the battlefield or other Vamps after Socialite. Being aggressive with Vamps to take advantage of Socialite means playing more of one drop and two drop Vamps. Bloodtithe Harvester is 3/2 two drop making it a good attacker and Vamp to make bigger. Can also be creature removal if you need that.

Florian, Voldaren Scion has first strike as well as can be repeatable card advantage when you're aggressive with Vamps. He's good and can trigger the turn you play him if you cast him before you attack. Even though he's legendary you want to consistently cast him turn three, for that reason I would play 4x of him. Plenty of ways to discard other copies of Florian for value.

Socialite, Harvester and Florian is a nice trio of Rakdos Vamps. Voldaren Bloodcaster  Flip is a flying two drop Vamp who can be repeatable source of Blood and Falkenrath Pit Fighter can be an aggressive one drop Vamp who can be saced later if not useful to draw.

Example Vamp core for budget tribal Vamps:

Next is Vamp support and Welcoming Vampire can be repeatable draw from a flying Vamp, reason to splash white. Being rare and expensive price might be difficult to get more of Welcoming. If you can afford more than add more. Nighthawk Scavenger has flying and other keywords making it a nice Vamp to make bigger, but it's power relies on your opponent's graveyard making it a better sideboard Vamp when you know what your opponent is playing.

Edgar, Charmed Groom  Flip can be top of the curve Vamp and a reason to splash white, but Edgar at the top means that you don't need white in the early turns of the game which is helpful to cast black and red Vamps.

Example of Mardu with heavy Rakdos Vamp base:

Deadly Dispute is a good card in Standard especially when you're playing little creatures and Blood tokens. Infernal Grasp is more unconditional instant creature removal and being black is easier to cast then white removal.

Dispute, Florian, Welcoming, Fighter and Blood is a lot of main deck draw which can really help gameplay. This example needs red or black mana in the early turns for Vamps making 4x Secluded Courtyard very helpful because it enters the battlefield untapped and can also cast white Vamps.

I HIGHLY recommend Toralf, God of Fury  Flip for a deck such as this. It plus a Blasphemous Act or better yet, Star of Extinction with a midgame board just wins on the spot.

I had a Toralf deck but since now have a Florian, Voldaren Scion deck that functions much the same but has more of a fighting chance for other people.
