Was running into mana issues. Kept getting stuck at 4 or 5 lands. Added another plains and some Azorius Keyrunes and some Warden of the Walls.
Got 3rd place on this weeks FNM

Made 3rd on this week's FNM, with a 4-1 score... The deck ran pretty solid, losing only to a GW Aggro deck..
Considerations
shirtninja, 12 years ago
Considering pulling Ajani, Caller of the Pride and one Call of the Conclave for two Gavony Townships. I'm a bit worried that it'll dilute my mana pool a bit too much though. Honestly, Ajani doesn't really fit here, even though it's a pretty alright card in different circumstances. It's not a game winner though.
That's really the only change I'm considering though. I still like the deck and it still plays really well.

Awesome interactions I have found thus far:
Timekeeper, 12 years ago
Inexorable Tide + Novijen Sages: I used to think the sages were the worst graft creatures, but being able to continually play a creature, graft a counter onto it, and then proliferating every other +1/+1 on every other creature I have is fantastic, and it gives me plenty of counters to use to draw more creatures.
Blasphemous Act + Vigor: Everything dies, except my creatures. They get an extra 13 added to their power and toughness. Works even better when I have a copy of Vigor via Riku of Two Reflections, Clone or Rite of Replication.
Etherium-Horn Sorcerer + Cloudstone Curio: Cast Sorcerer for RU, cascade into a creature, bounce sorcerer to my hand. Lather, rinse, repeat.

fnm 11/2
Silver23, 12 years ago
fnm: did really well. it was a small outcome only 4 but i was the victor. first was a control talrand but dismantled it with ease. second was a Howlgeist overrun deck but went 2-0. same with talrand. Who knew Thragtusk was a big pain. first battle was owned by thragtusk and Champion of Lambholt. second and third was lucky he did not pull them, near miss when i hit him with Shimian Specter and exiled all of the thragtusk and won.
Major Maintenance!
FoxOn36, 12 years ago
After as while of testing, updating and gaming. I feel Sheoldred has proved herself to be a commander to fear in our playgroup.
I obtained some treasures during my travels (such as Decree of Pain and Cabal Coffers) and updated the list with my current build. As always, suggestions are appreciated.

Fun, but needs work for competitive

I can win matches with this deck without a problem, but when it comes to speed burn decks I don't stand a chance. Or getting overwhelmed by token decks.
fast? i think so
tempest, 12 years ago
managed to pull this off and thought i'd share this with you guys 1. razorverge thicket, soul sister (on the draw) 2. razorverge thicket, 2 soul sisters (23 life) 3. razorverge thicket, ajani's pridemate, serra ascendant (29 life) 4. ravorverge thicket, serra ascendant, 1 rancor (32 life) that's turn 4 with 3 souls sisters, a 13/11 trample ajani's pridemate, 2 6/6 flying lifelink serra ascendant, and 32 life. this is all assuming the opponent doesn't play a single creature though. :)

I've replaced Centaur Healer with Loxodon Smiter, who has been better most of the time while playtesting. 3 Centaur Healers are sideboarded against aggro. I've also added another Silverblade Paladin in place of an Arbor Elf; Silverblade Paladin is just fantastic whether he's topdecked or in an opening hand. Finally, I've re-added a Gavony Township (removing a Plains) with my other sideboarded against decks which I side out Trostani, Selesnya's Voice.
I'm now thinking about adding Sublime Archangel in place of Trostani mainboard, but my main issue with this right now is the $25 price tag.

A few big changes
thedemonsday, 12 years ago
So after sitting around with some friends and playing around with the decklist after a rather disappointing FNM (2-2-0) I made a few changes. First off, I replaced Griselbrand with Rakdos, Lord of Riots because I would never have enough mana to cast Griselbrand because I can too easily end games with five mana. Rakdos would not benefit from Heartless Summoning but he would also keep my other creatures costs down allowing me to cast more burn and removal.
Second, I reduced my Faithless Lootings and added Sign in Blood because the discard was making things too difficult and in a few cases can finish off an opponent (happened once in playtesting).
Third, I dropped Olivia Voldaren for Balefire Dragon. I know a lot of people are not going to like this move but hear me out, Olivia was not working. Here first ability was not as efficient as the eight other burn spells I have and the four Dreadbores, that and her secondary function as a lightning rod was also not working because people saw through the bluff and went straight for Charmbreaker Devils and Desecration Demons. Balefire Dragon is cutting it close on mana cost but when it does hit the field it delivers devastating board wipe capabilities. I am a little on the fence about it and am still considering using Thundermaw Hellkite instead.
Lastly, I added an Increasing Ambition as a tutor just in case. However I am thinking about just adding a second Rakdos, Lord of Riots instead.
Summary: -1 Griselbrand, -2 Olivia Voldaren, -2 Searing Spear, -2 Faithless Looting, +1 Rakdos, Lord of Riots ,+2 Balefire Dragon, +1 Increasing Ambition, +3 Sign in Blood

Changed it a bit again. added more survivability. I'm not quite sure if it is quite there though, still loses to Monogreen Synergy.

FNM
Twentyand1, 12 years ago
Took this pretty unique zombie build to FNM and did pretty well. I didnt have my sideboard with me and instead of Abrupt Decay I was using Dead Weight and still split even overall 5-5. The creature combo is solid, gave everyone problems. Had to switch up the removal. Cremate is good for a little draw power but shines against reanimator decks and is awesome against pesky flashbacks. Against UW control just swap out Crippling Blight with Golgari Charms and its gtg. Against RB Zombies didnt need to change a thing, mine is better with smart use of the Lotleth trolls. When this comes up against Reanimator decks that rely on large late creatures I will swap Crippling Blight for Appetite for Brains and Abrupt Decay for Victim of Night. UW humans was the only thing that took me 2-0, good old Elite Inquisitor/Silverblade Paladin combo was hard to deal with without my sideboard handy, and in defense of this deck I got him to 2 health the first game and 6 the second so they were well played.
more realiste

Made some changes too fit the cards I ownes. So Vexing Devil is out for Delver of Secrets Flip removed 2 zealous conscripts for 2 Jace, Architect of Thought I have 4... (one foiled :-P). Temporal Mastery 2 times in the maybe list with Riders of Gavony for sb. Angel of Serenity Gisela, Blade of Goldnight Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius are all big bomb I would like too play... Traded an Ajani, Caller of the Pride today. maybe it could help but...
FNM - 5 round
JasonMB, 12 years ago
So deck worked really well. I drew for 1st place. Only round I lost was my own fault for messing up an attack that cost me.
Angel of Glory's Rise brought me from a guarenteed loss into an instant win. Returned 11 creatures to play, between the Skynights and Fiendhunters, it's really set me up nice.
Lyev Skyknight - glad I ran 4, for 3 mana, this card is great. Bound with either of my soulbond creatures is great too.
Silverblade Paladin - obvious allstar
Mass Appeal - worked out, averaged 3 cards off this, for 3 mana it's worth it.
Supreme Verdict - had some good wipes
Cyclonic Rift - need 1 more, such a great card
Ajani, Caller of the Pride - didn't actually draw this too much. Got it out twice...but it's still really useful. I'd like to add a 2nd.
Jace, Architect of Thought - possibly tied with the silverplade paladin for best card in deck. So useful. The +1 is a decent option, but that -2 really owns. Grab any card out of the next 3...can't top that. Used the ult once just for kicks...pulled my opponents Chandra out and my Ajani out lol.
Tamiyo, the Moon Sage - Her and Jace are my favorite 2 plainswalkers...I will likely not run a deck that doesn't use them both. Both have lockdown, both have draw power - both 5 star cards.
Detention Sphere - better than O-ring...2 more be great
Hardest part I faced was what to sideboard out. I could never add too many cards. Not sure where I should modify...had good early aggro, mid game, late game...good aggro, good control. Worked just how I wanted. I was hoping to play a standard tourny tonight too, but I'll have to wait til FNM again.

Played this a few times against a few friends, did surprisingly well going 4-3-0 in our little homebrew comp.
One change I have made is swapping Searing Spear for Electrickery, I found overcharging Electrickery to help take out opponent creatures proved far more useful, often this allowed me to kill 2-3 creatures unexpectedly rather then getting a single kill for the same mana.

Major Modification
dmullin4, 12 years ago
I took out the Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker and the Tragic Slips and just went U/R Izzet Control seen here: Izzet Control
TheArcticWind31, 12 years ago
Last night's FNM I went 3-1. Game 1: Bant control, 2-1. I won game one with Parallel Lives and Armada Wurm, lost game two due to two Angel of Serenitys, but finished up game 3 with a victory due to him getting fairly mana-screwed.
Game 2: G/B Zombies 2-0. Such an extreme blowout. Not incredibly worth going in to, except that parallel lives did work again, and the Wolfir Avenger was a great addition over the loxodon.
Game 3: Grixis Control, 2-0. This deck was seriously over 1000 dollars. 4 copies of Jace architect, 4 of Bonfires, 2 Tamiyos, 4 Snapcasters. It was pretty crazy. But that didn't save it. I was able to outpace it, and the Oblivion Rings in the maindeck really worked against his sweepers.
Game 4: Selesnya Aggro, 1-2. This match was crazy. The first one, the game reached a stall with his silverblade paladins, thragtusks, and resto angels, and I held on with over 30 life with a Trostani, Selesnya's Voice, Parralel lives, and her populating thragtusk beast tokens. So OP. Game 2 went super quickly he pulled a silverblade paladin paired with a thragtusk with a rancor. Game 3 went in the same direction, but was super close.
I'm thinking about putting in an Intrepid Hero into the sideboard, perhaps. It worked really well for him against my thragtusks. Wondering about including a Sigurda, as well.

Changes so far

Ok so I have figured out what the worst matchup for this deck was. That matchup was control. Too often I found myself trying to be the control player with all the negates, detention spheres, and other crap in the deck. Everyone knows what happens when a non controling deck tries to play control. The deck gets stomped. After some contemplating I decided to take out blue and put in black. This gave me access to Disciple of Bolas, Griselbrand, and most importantly Grisly Salvage. Also adding black opened up Underworld Connections and Vraska the Unseen in the graveyard. The best matchup for the deck is RDW and Dirty Red. Unless those decks have the nut hand and I have no way to gain life by turn 4 then I always win.
