The Necrotic Manifesto - Gisa and Geralf EDH

Commander / EDH Mill Reanimator UB (Dimir) Zombie

Triton

"A work of art, my collection of rot" -Aborted, Necrotic Manifesto

A deck with the duo Gisa and Geralf spoiled in Eldritch Moon as the general (or is is generals?). Focuses on self-mill and reanimation of ZomZoms.

So for those of you who don't know, one of the new legendary creatures revealed in Eldritch Moon were Gisa and Geralf, who are basically necromancer-sibling-rivals and I guess they banded together to fight Emrakul's minions.

Anyways, I've had a thing for twins (I guess because I have twin sisters (gasp personal information) or siblings in MtG, as my first EDH deck was Mina and Denn, Wildborn, so naturally I had to make this deck.

Last but not least, in a more technical standpoint, the two have a very interesting ability, allowing you to cast zombies (or zomzoms) from the graveyard. This instantly made me think of a reanimator and self-mill approach to the deck.

  • Phyrexian Delver- Basically two bodies for the price of one. Not too shabby.

  • Dralnu, Lich Lord- This bad boy can allow you to access a spell you milled (if the RnG gods hate you). Yes his other ability is really bad, but the tradeoff is pretty great imo.

  • Sidisi, Undead Vizier- She's a tutor, and can get rid of Dralnu and other zombies if they being no use. Also an added benefit of this deck being reanimator, well, you can use that to your advantage.

  • Sire of Stagnation - Yeah he's not a zomzom, but still an awesome reanimation target.

  • Fleshbag Marauder- useful for getting rid of EtB creatures out of the way while hampering your opponents.

  • Dread Slaver - Insane if he is left on the board long enough. Also stealing your opponents' creatures is awesome.

  • Dimir Doppelganger and Body Double are pseudo-reanimation, Double is ideal, but Doppelganger is also a great card.

  • Victimize- Basically two for the. Price of one. Very great tradeoff, very great card.

  • Ever After- Dralnu's and Sidisi's wedding- er, I mean, reanimate creatures for each is great!

  • Doom Blade- since no one else in my playgroup has black creatures, may change, though.

  • Traumatize and the like- Self-Mill is what this deck likes to do best!

  • Elixir of Immortality- Just in case of grind games, or you run out of non-creature spells, shuffles your graveyard into your deck.

Also, please note that I listed counterspells as removal because they remove threats in a way by preventing them from entering play in the first place

...and here is where all your amazing suggestions such as Crucible of Worlds, Entomb and Reanimate all become rendered invalid, since I'm on a very tigh budget. Let's say, any card >=$5 USD?

I'm really bad with figuring out wincons, but I do know big, hard-to-kill creatures are wincons. Enough about that, let's start!

  • Zombie Apocalypse- with that name, what do you think? Your opponents better be geared for this.

  • Living Dead- Basically a mass reanimation that will mainly affect you. Combine with Ashnod's Altar for insane interactions

  • ...also just milling out your opponent. We have some pretty powerful mill spells.

More to come sooner!

As-is, this deck is very much a work in progress, and I'm really looking forward to the release of Gisa and Gerald in Eldritch Moon. Until then, I am very open to advice!

Well, I'll still be open to advice, hahaha.

Worked my butt off on the description and all, so a +1 is much appreciated if you feel I deserve it!

Updates Add

Just started and finished the decklist today, no to mention gathering all the cards I need, which will be a pain in the butt.

That moment when you spend a ton of time on the description.

Also a side note, hoping that Gisa and Geralf aren't going to be too expensive. Definitely gonna be the more popular UB commander in my opinion.

Well I should stop talking, I'm out.
