Please help me make this deck awesome for my bro!

When I first started magic me and my brother were rivals. I quit for a while, but when I decided to get back into it he had decided to be done with it and gave me his collection as a gift. However I always like to keep a couple decks that fit his play style open to him when he joins me with my play group, and he always had a thing for mono red.

A couple months ago he got cancer, and occasionally between chemo sessions I'm able to take him out for some games, and I decided that his favorite deck deserved some pumping up so that what little time he has to play he can enjoy having impactful game play (Things are hard enough without him going out and having a frustrating game). However I'm not much of a mono red player and was hoping to get some suggestions to pump this up real nice.

Budget wise I'm trying to keep it to only a couple hundred dollars at the most for new additions. My brother absolutely LOVES dragons (His main deck from his collection was a modern dragon deck) as well as being partial to finding powerful combos for his cards. Not sure if this will affect suggestions, but I know his other 3 favorite decks he had before giving them to me were a golem/myr deck, an izzet deck, and a sliver deck, so if you know anything that works well with mono red with those sort of play styles let me know.
