Tariel, Commander of Souls

Commander / EDH

I've always enjoyed the Black/White/Red as a color combination. Tariel embodies it perfectly with her abilities. I picture her as an angel employed in Revelations, raising the dead in reality's final moments to do battle against the unworthy. B/W are the best colors for getting creatures back, and the Red adds the element of madness to the angel's theme and purpose.

However, from reading about her online, I get the feeling that she isn't terribly popular due to the random clause in her ability. But, come on, if you were able to choose what creature to reanimate, then she would simply be too powerful.

So here's what I'm trying to do with the deck. There are sweeper spells (Wraths, and this and that kill spell), discard in various forms (On bodies, spells,) and reanimation separate from Tariel herself.

In order to make the most of Tariel herself, I've also included artifacts to copy or otherwise make her able to use her ability more than once per turn ( Illusionist's Bracers , Magewright's Stone , Thousand-Year Elixir).

To reduce the randomness of what she reanimates, there are cards that have targeted graveyard removal ( Withered Wretch , Thraben Heretic , Junkyard Troller). Nothing worse than reanimating a Lighthouse Chronologist than their Artisan of Kozilek.
