List of all pertinent "one-time burst" draw spells in EDH.

What this includes:

  • Cards that will immediately bring you from few cards you can play to many cards you can play. (The reason you would want to play this over the other type of card draw is in very specific types of decks that need immediate and temporary card draw. For example, a control deck might not want to play out a sorcery speed steady card draw and opt for instant speed burst card instead. As another example, a deck with a very low curve might dump out their hand faster than sorcery speed steady card draw can refill it. For a final example, a deck built around drawing cards might prefer to trigger their abilities with spells that trigger them 7 times immediately over one that triggers it 14 times over the course of the game.) These cards fall under two types:
  • Sorcery speed burst card draw, which can draw at least 3 cards for at most X+1 mana, where X is the number of cards that they draw.
  • Instant speed burst card draw (including permanents who requires most of their mana be paid in the form of an activated ability), which can draw at least 3 cards for at most X-1 mana, where X is twice the number of cards that they draw.

What this doesn't include:

  • Cards that oftentimes also refill opponents 3 or more cards.
  • Cards that give an opponent a choice, unless you get the final choice after them (so Fact or Fiction is on this list but Manifold Insights is not).
  • Cards that cost more than seven mana to fulfill previous requirements, make you lose more life than the number of cards being drawn, or make you skip your next turn. There are just too many better options.
  • Necropotence, again. To repeat what I mention on the other list, the combination of the life payment with how opponents desire to kill you as soon as possible because you just played Necropotence makes this card more likely to lead to your loss than lead to your win (except in cEDH, of course).
  • Cards that only do best in hellbent decks, since these cards are exactly the cards you DON'T want in a hellbent deck.
  • Permanents, unless they have an ETB. This is self-explanatory, I'm sure.

Please suggest burst draw spells that fit these parameters, ask about my other helpful resources for EDH, or check out this link to my scryfall search for burst-style card draw.
