Demonic Lore

Enchantment

When Demonic Lore enters the battlefield, draw three cards.

At the beginning of your end step, you lose 2 life for each card in your hand.

DreadKhan on Rakdos Santa Deck

I like stuff like Dream Devourer in big Rakdos decks, it's a great way to get a Captive Audience out early. Rakdos Keyrune is another interesting mana rock in Rakdos, a 3/1 First Strike can do work on many boards (it can kill a Golem if necessary) while also offering you ramp. I think my final idea to speed this up a bit is to try out some Dark Rituals? There are other Red rituals, but Dark Ritual is a great rate.

Have you thought about tossing in some token generators? Even a Kher Keep might do some work, those 0/1s are about as useless a creature as you can give. There is also Trading Post, which can generate value if you aren't donating yet.

I suspect this deck could use something like Night's Whisper or even Phyrexian Arena, but now that I think about it, why not throw in Midnight Oil and/or Demonic Lore? Neither is so cruel as to be unfair, but both offer card draw, much gentler options than Demonic Pact for example!

Do you have trouble getting in with Blim, or having him get targeted? Whispersilk Cloak is clunky, but it might be useful as your deck really cares about having him out.

Just curious, but Thieves' Auction seems weirdly risky with Blim, doesn't his ability also hurt you potentially if you control a bunch of stolen stuff? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding how these cards interact.

Looks pretty good, I had fun with a similar deck a while ago. Just be aware that you will need a fair bit of protection for braids as she tends to get a ton of hate!

A few interesting cards that almost guarantee the card draw would be Dunes of the Dead and Gods' Eye, Gate to the Reikai. No one wants to sack lands, you'll get your drain and draw, plus a little token for your trouble. Because of braids abilities, it means you can get away with other spells you'd otherwise want well away from your board. Treacherous Blessing, Demonic Lore or Ichor Wellspring get you easy card draw plus a nice option for braids to sack. Syr Konrad, the Grim is always a great card to go for when the aim of the game is to constantly sap away at you opponents creatures too.

Treacherous Blessing instead of / in addition to Demonic Lore? I think it'll be a bit less life loss for you on average.

Yesterday on Looking for black enchantments with …

Mono Black can't typically remove its own enchantments, so I had the idea to create a God-Eternal Bontu deck with the idea of using her to sacrifice those enchantments.

I'm looking for enchantments (or other permanents) with only black or colourless colour identity, that have a nice pay-off, but can become serious problems if left on the battlefield. Along the line of:

But not along the lines of Lich and that stuff that's good to donate but not to sacrifice.

Thanks a bunch in advance.

Big changes by the standards of this old deck! Incorporating some fun new cards and moving in a more enchantmentcheavy direction now that deck:golos-el-goloso scratches my ETB creature itch so effectively.

OUT:

Sword of Feast and Famine

Sword of Fire and Ice

Stoneforge Mystic

Baleful Strix

Karmic Guide

Reveillark

Recruiter of the Guard

IN

Mana Vault

Alela, Artful Provocateur

Arcane Signet

Demonic Lore

Kaya's Wrath

Ghostly Flicker

Renounce

I'm splitting the cut cards between Hazezon Muad'Dib: DUNE-Inspired EDH and my aforementioned Golos deck. Of the new additions, Alela seems the most questionable, but I had one laying around and I like that the deck now has THREE alternate commanders hiding in the 99.

War Room: Not bad! ChannelFireball's article covers most of it; fine in e.g. mono- or even mono- to make things a bit more reliable

Thalisse, Reverent Medium: it's not quite Anointed Procession in the command zone, but I like it. Strionic Resonator triples the number of created Spirits. Temporary tokens from Tombstone Stairwell and Lightning Coils still count. Finally, it doesn't specify creature tokens, so with Pitiless Plunderer and a sac outlet, in response to each turn's trigger, you can sac the Spirits of the previous turn to get Treasure, only to have those Spirits replaced by new ones!

Vow of Torment: took me a second to parse that the point of this was further the deprecation of intimidate.

Promise of Tomorrow: More experiments in card advantage! I like the art and name, very hopeful and wholesome.

Ghen, Arcanum Weaver: the art for this looks more to me than anything, but whatever. Enchantments with ETB abilities are obviously nice, e.g. Act of Authority, Demonic Lore, and Sage's Reverie (no Induced Amnesia and Hatching Plans in the 99 tho, sorry). Spirit Loop-styled cards and enchantment tokens from e.g. Daxos the Returned can be used for sac fodder. Sagas can be recycled (you can loop Fall of the Thran if you really want to).
