Ezuri's Elves Everywhere

Commander / EDH

cimmerian99

I have a bunch of good elves, and Ezuri, Claw of Progress seems like the commander for some good old elf tribal. The challenge is to make a true elf tribal deck, so no non-elf creatures, despite how tempting it would be to put in Fathom Mage or Cold-Eyed Selkie. I really, really, really wish Wizards had made Fathom Mage and elf instead of a human. She's playing for the wrong team. The one non-elf creature I have in the deck is Wirewood Symbiote, an insect, but I feel okay slotting him in because he synergies specifically with elves, and bouncing my own creatures isn't a bad thing in Ezuri, especially if I get to untap a boss mana-dork.

No 'infinite' combos in my playgroup, so I've left out Umbral Mantle, Sword of the Paruns, Crab Umbra, card: Freed from the Reel, and Intruder Alarm so I don't create infinite mana or create infinite elf-dorks. Sad. Sorry Buzz Lightyear, but it looks like we won't be going to infinity and beyond any time soon. I can still generate stupid amounts of mana by dumping a fat stack of +1/+1 counters on Gyre Sage, Viridian Joiner, or Devoted Druid. The dream is to do just that with Cloudstone Curio out, play and elf, bounce and elf, play that elf you just bounced, bounce another, play him again, on and on and on until I've got like fifty experience counters and start all over again. If I can get that going simple cards like Silkweaver Elite or Elvish Visionary become draw engines.

The weakness to Ezuri is getting hated on early, which is a meta thing and there's not much I can do about that other than lose a few games until a new archenemy is established. If you're curious by the apparent lack of Elvish Archdruid or Imperious Perfect, that's because their anthem ability is actually anti-synergy with Ezuri. I left in Joraga Warcaller because dumping counters on him basically makes an army of massive elves.
