legendofa on Which commander for a Simic …

I have a deck series on here that's all about making decks as low-budget as possible--like, below $3 on TCGPlayer, below $25 on CardKingdom cheap. I'm looking in a couple of different directions for , and I'd like to get some ideas of what option would get more people interested. My main thoughts right now are
-
Eutropia the Twice-Favored enchantment value (not auras, that's for my deck)
-
Alaundo the Seer multi-spell combo, with cards like Saruman the White and Hunting Pack.
The outside thoughts are
-
Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty or Troyan, Gutsy Explorer big spells
-
Jolrael, Voice of Zhalfir hand size matters
-
Vorel of the Hull Clade counters
Which of these sounds the most interesting for a ultra-budget deck? For some examples of what I've done so far, check these out.

Riku beat down

Chaos Warp is a little over your budget, but a solid addition.
Growth Spiral is fun to copy.
Crop Rotation fetches non-basics.
Hunter's Insight is great card-draw.
Your elves should give you the mana for Hunting Pack.
Increasing Vengeance or any other copy effect is always fun to copy.
Sprouting Vines is great for grabbing your basics.
Unleash Fury is a straight upgrade (costs 1 mana less, and no sacrifice) Fatal Frenzy and Rush of Blood.
Mirari is a replacement for Riku’s first ability if he gets to expensive to cast.
Swarm Intelligence is a nice bonus if you end up running enough instant/sorcery to make it worthwhile.
Wilderness Reclamation is a little over-budget as well, but a great investment for this type of deck.
These suggestions all come from my Kalamax, the commander-damage, hence the instant heavy suggestions. And the commander himself could be fun in this deck as well.

Her Royal Fluffness: Gorestorm

devin444: Thanks for the comment and this flurry of suggestions. I recently added Muse. It's a great card, and with Vivien, Champion of the Wilds and Yeva, Nature's Herald, I can basically have four turns per rotation. Seems pretty powerful.
Caller of the Pack and Liege of the Tangle seem interesting, but actually don't add all that much to the deck. The rest of your suggestions sure is powerful, but those price tags don't sit right with me. Thank you very much, still. I'm always thank ful for having to consider new cards. Btw, you inspired me to consider Chatterstorm and Hunting Pack. The deck often playes like a storm deck anyways, so those two could be stellar, but maybe a little win-more.

Kalamax Kopy

Hey, you've started to upgrade the precon, but haven't done much yet. Nice upgrades of Narset's Reversal, Ral Storm Conduit, Shark Typhoon and Cyclonic Rift. Your deck doesn't have a Commander yet since Kalamax is in the main deck 99. To fix this, in the editor add the CMDR tag at the end of the Kalamax, the Stormshire text.
Kalamax, the Stormshire *CMDR*
What's your budget for upgrading the manabase? I ask because you essentially have the from the box manabase of the precon minus a few Forests. $20 would give you a decent upgrade; $40 a much better upgrade. Adding more dual lands that will ETB untapped will speed up gameplay.
Some areas to consider further upgrading on a budget:
- Some better lands: Holdout Settlement
- More low mana cost instants that draw: Thrill of Possibility
- Some counterspells: Counterspell
- More mass draw instants: Return of the Wildspeaker
- More ramp: Roiling Regrowth
- Better card recursion: Reclaim
Some cards to consider cutting:
- Rupture Spire
- Nascent Metamorph
- Pako, Arcane Retriever and Haldan, Avid Arcanist
- Surreal Memoir
- Hunting Pack
- Clash of Titans
- Living Lore
- Wort, the Raidmother
- Charmbreaker Devils
- Goblin Dark-Dwellers
- Crackling Drake
- Etali, Primal Storm
- Brimstone Volley
The biggest change these cuts would make is reducing the mana curve. Cutting many higher mana cost cards for lower mana cost ones will help gameplay. More instants and less creatures will give you more with Kalamax.
If interested I offer more advice. Good luck with your deck.

+1 Mizuki_Minami!
+1 Impact Resonance... chunk.
+? Overblaze... more chunk.
+? Cerebral Vortex... maybe?
...more evasion!!!
+1 Lazotep Plating... this is so good!
+1 Sheltering Word... this is gonna gain you like 20+ life
+1 Simic Charm... yes plz
...Idk if you wanted to do this or not (it seems like you avoided Increasing Vengeance, etc.)... Idk if you feel like you need them, but just a heads up...
-1 Ravenous Gigantotherium... so fat... ur tokens step 2 so this is step 3... slow!
-3 Electrostatic Field/Guttersnipe/Murmuring Mystic... idk if I like these... you're not playing for pure storm and these don't trigger off copies.
-1 Hunting Pack... so fat... so slow? Also doesn't trigger off copies.

The problem with this is that you have to cast Mana Severance after you get Hunting Pack into your hand, and you have to wait until turn 7 to win. I might add Carnival of Souls so you can combo off a little earlier (unfortunately, this is still only turn 5 or so).

Hey, I'm currently playing Kalamax, the Stormsire using a secondary token strategy.
You could play a main token strategy with Kalamax and The Locust God. Kalamax can act as a pseudo Parallel Lives affect with instant spells that create token since if he's tapped the first instant you cast each turn is copied. Many cards can repeatably for no mana cost create a token when you cast an instant or sorcery and you want to be casting instants with Kalamax. Instant draw spells are good with Kalamax. The doubling of draw is good with The Locust God who creates an Insect token when you draw a card. In my opinion getting token value on top of the value you already get from instants with Kalamax could make this a viable main strategy.
Some cards for a creature token strategy with Kalamax:
- The Locust God
- Young Pyromancer
- Saheeli, Sublime Artificer
- Murmuring Mystic
- Metallurgic Summonings
- Chord of Calling
- Parallel Lives
- Cryptolith Rite
- Skullclamp
- Beastmaster Ascension
- Bident of Thassa
- Hunter's Insight
- Return of the Wildspeaker
- Pull from Tomorrow
- Sprout Swarm
- Arachnogenesis
- Artifact Mutation
- Curious Herd
- Scatter the Seeds
- Fated Intervention
- Hunting Pack
- Second Harvest
- Cackling Counterpart
- Supplant Form
- Empty the Warrens
- Rite of Replication
- Mythos of Illuna
- Twinflame
