Commander / EDH* BR (Rakdos)

Maybeboard

$25 Grusilda, just in time for Halloween!

Remember to buy your cards used 'cuz this deck isn't gonna be cheap if you get everything "Lightly Played". It's fun though, so save your pennies, you'll thank me later!

Grusilda likes to watch your opponent's build up their board state, then level the playing field with board wipes, removal, and discard effects. Then the fun begins: start looking through all the graveyards for whichever zany abilities you want to mash together.

Here are the main mechanics, in a nutshell:

Graveyard Filling

Board wipes and discard effects will help us get our own creatures in the graveyard, as well as opponents'. Use Tormenting Voice , Wild Guess , or Cathartic Reunion to fill your hand and graveyard simultaneously. Use Dark Deal or Sire Of Insanity to spread the discard-love. Board wipe with... well... the board wipes!

Creature Synergy

Want to one-shot an opponent? Combine Artisan of Kozilek , Tyrant's Familiar , or even Spikeshot Elder with Blackcleave Goblin or Plague Myr for lethal combat damage. Having Angrath's Marauders on the field helps speed this up too!

Board wipes got ya down? Turn that frown upside down by using Cauldron of Souls , Undying Evil (see maybe board), or Without Weakness , and your creature will be the "last one standing"!

Life total is getting too low? Why not give Heartless Hidetsugu the powers of Blackcleave Goblin to show your opponents what it's like to have a low life total!

While we're on the subject of Heartless Hidetsugu , try combining him with Rakdos Ragemutt to gain a bunch of life!

Need infinite mana? Combine Pili-Pala with Kozilek's Channeler or Palladium Myr to 1. tap for {2}, 2. pay {2} to untap and add {1} of any color to your mana pool, 3. repeat!

Want to whack someone for 12 damage to the face? Why not combine Murderous Redcap and Flayer of the Hatebound to utilize their direct-damage abilities? Then get out Flesh-Eater Imp to sacrifice that monstrosity, only to have it return to the battlefield immediately, while still combined! Repeat as needed, Maro said you could! http://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/168526426208/how-does-persist-or-undying-work-with-combined#notes

Other Strategies to Consider

When designing this deck, I considered mass-discard as a strategy, and even incorporated some of it in the form of Sire Of Insanity . Unfortunately, most discard effects typically let the player choose which card they want discard, or it takes on the "random" card approach. Either way, you don't end up getting the stuff you want in your opponent's GY, so I choose to avoid this situation entirely.

Another approach is to find creative ways to get creatures into your GY as a utility. Effects such as evoke, madness, and cycling are good examples of this, but these effects typically lack the power level to change the game. If a creature can go to the GY while blocking a legitimate threat, I'd prefer that over, say, drawing an extra card at instant speed.

Besides what you see in the main board, there are tons of hilarious combos out there, especially when you leave the $25 range. Undying and Persist are abilities found on many other creatures, and I'd recommended throwing at least two more creatures in the deck, each with one of those abilities.
