A cleric tribal deck with a dark secret...

Clerics are commonly known to be healers: preventing damage, giving protection, gaining life and many other boons to those who find clerics by their side. They are often the patrons of angels, those of whom are able to channel divine intervention and at times even resurrecting the dead.

This denomination doesn't look above when trying to find the answers though, they look somewhere else. While white mana and restoration magic are still valued due to their practicality, black mana and the necromantic arts tease at a type of power unreachable via more unconventional means. This leaves many worshipers branded as heretics of the municipal churches and in most instances from the holy light of the angels themselves. Another consequence is the inclusion of the undead including vampires within their ranks, whether this is a boon or an ill side-effect has yet to be determined. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your perspective) for the flock, this also reaches the attention of the demonic forces that thrive on the very black mana they are now tapping into. This of course comes at a price, but it is one that the zealous members are gleefully willing to pay...

So far in testing the balance between early creature disruption, mid-game anthem effects and late game dropping demons works surprisingly well. The only thing that seems to be lacking is the removal package which I'll be attempting to address without affecting the core theme of the deck too harshly. The aim is to keep at least 30+ creature cards in the deck, 20-25 of them being clerics or producers of cleric tokens, the rest of them of course are demons or at least demon related.
The addition of Liliana's Contract isn't the explicit goal of the deck, though it does fit the theme perfectly, is solid on its own (5 mana for 4 cards) and puts your opponent(s) on a different kind of clock. The sacrifice theme is very strong in this deck as well so I do plan on fitting in a Skullclamp and other types of cards eventually.
