What is the best win you've ever had? What is the worst loss you've ever had?

stories about delivering or recieving a Savage Beating are always fun. Why don't we all share some?

I'll go first:

my best win is probably when I fought through an Ajani Steadfast emblem to kill a player who was at about 140 life. (Commander damage ftw)

My worst loss was when I'd forgotten to shuffle up after I'd bought one of the precon Commander decks, and drew, like, 18 consecutive lands

I'm not sure about my worst loss (there's been plenty of bad ones), but I have two best wins.

The first was right when my friends and I bought the C13 decks. We were playing a 5-person free for all. I was about to be knocked out before I cast some instant that drew cards and drew into Decree of Pain, and cycled it, wiping the board of the creatures that were about to kill me.

Eventually it came down to me and the Oloro player (I was running Nekusar). He was approaching 200 life, and had just dropped a Serra Avatar and passed. I drew Phthisis.

The other story was just the other day in a Modern match against GoldGhost012. He was running Affinity, I was runnung UTron. This was the final board state:

I haven't really had "worst" losses but there was a game where I cast Kaalia and I should've Armageddoned the next turn but I didn't and I lost the game because of it.

Still salty.

The best win I ever had was I got her out T4 and my friend said "you better not have Master of Cruelties and I didn't so I said something along the lines of "oh I don't, you're safe for a turn or two".

He passes turn. Untap, upkeep, draw. I draw Master of Cruelties.

I had to apologize profusely after I beat him but it felt so good lol.

Actually there was one where I played Boil against the mono-U control deck and then beat his face in. That was fun.

The worst losses for me are always when I misplay. Having a combo set up and choosing poor targets for something like a Intuition is always embarrassing.

Ok I got two wins,

  1. Was running gifts control, opponent never resolved a spell and I swing with Iona and a hasty Emrakul on turn 6 or 7 I think

  2. Playing Orolo and got a Serra avatar out then copied it like 5 times, much face beaten in

Can't think of any super losses though, Cept like mana flood/drought

My favorite win: Was during the modern, I was playing Jund, right after I finished putting the deck together, so I was pumped to be playing a goodstuff.deck finally. It was the final match at the GPT at my LGS. I was playing against Affinity. I was undefeated at this point and felt really good, (I mean undefeated like I had not lost a single game the whole day). The Affinty player got hosed in Game 1 from a well timed Jund Charm, which literally shit all over his dudes on turn three. Then in Game two, I did the unthinkable, I kept a 1 land hand which consisted of Blackcleave Cliffs, 1x Dark Confidant, Tarmogoyf, Shatterstorm, Inquisition of Kozilek and 2x Lightning Bolt. I drew into every single land I needed to cast the Shatterstorm on precisely turn 4. I remained undefeated. I took home a playmat, a booster box of some random set they were giving away and a SDCC Chandra, Pyromaster. I felt like a boss.

My worst loss ever? I was playing with Jund in modern, yet again a few months later. It was the mirror match. My opponent had a couple Ghost Quarters out. He had a Tarmogoyf in play. I cast Slaughter Pact on his Goyf, killing it. He then Sacks his Quarters to blow up my shocks. I have to search for two basics, cool. NOPE! He casted Shadow of Doubt! I was like. "really, you're a dick!" He laughs, and I can't pay for the Pact. I lose the game.

My best win was last year at GP Utrecht. I had just beaten G/W aggro with MBD and was locked for a Top64 finish.

My worst loss was... now that I think of it I never really had a "bad" loss. Sure there were games where I played really bad and got punished. Or I flooded. But there was never a loss which had a huge emotional impact on me. Even when I lost in the Semis of the PTQ a few weeks back I felt like I gave it my best and played very good it just wasn't meant to be.

My most painful loss was a time when I missed a trigger and lost a game. This cost me Top 8 that night. It was my fault and I deserved to receive a harsh lesson.

I also drew no nonland cards against an Abzan deck recently and still fought for like 12 turns. I was frustrated. If there were ever a moment at a tournament that I came close to losing my composure, that was it. A curt handshake and a "good game" were all I could muster.

I've had tons of satisfying wins. Rakdos Charming Splinter Twin decks is pretty fun. I also like killing people in the Boss Sligh mirror with Peak Eruption. It is a new level of salt.

My worst loss was just last week at FNM when I had basically locked the game up and would have won on my next turn. I pass, my opponent does a kinda YOLO all out attack. I suddenly confuse my life total on my sheet with his and concede because I think I'm at 3 and he's at 7 when it's the other way around.

I don't really have a best win.

Best win? Back when I was first starting I didn't really own any decks, so I was borrowing a friend's Esper artifacts list vs his Jund midrange (standard at the time, INN/RTR block). My board consists of a Time Sieve, some artifact lands and janky artifacts, Ethersworn Canonist and a Trading Post. I'm at 2 life, he swings with a Thragtusk and a Wolf token from a late Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip. No trample, I have a Witchbane Orb, so I can't get burned out. I tap the Post, go to 1, get a goat. Okay, now what? I topdeck a Thopter Assembly, crack 5 artifacts for the sieve and eventually find a Blightsteel Colossus that I use to beat face.

Worst loss? Forgot that Whip of Erebos could reanimate stuff in an EDH match. Was at 500 life, beautiful board state, and he cracls the whip for a Magister Sphinx, Death Grasp s me for 10 while I'm sitting on a counterspell I forgot to leave blue up for and a Bojuka Bog in hand.

My favorite loss was in a commander game where I was playing against my friend's Jund deck with my black Commander 2014 deck. I had complete control over the game, I felt pretty confident that nothing he could do would change the course of his defeat. Then he casts Worst Fears. I look down at my board and realize I was done for. He proceeded to move Lashwrithe between two creatures for the life cost until I was dead.

June 8, 2015 11:19 a.m.

My favorite win? Game 2 at a large event standard event (Innistrad -RTR). I'm playing my humans aggro (just as fast and consistent as the aggro deck at the time, However it was completely home brewed :3)

Opponent is playing... Maze's End with a bunch of fog effects.

My opening hand consists of 3 sided in Skullcrack, and i draw the fourth on turn one.

He plays Saruli Gatekeepers three turns in a row, which are all responded to by crack to the skull.

Then, he slaps down a Thragtusk. Out comes the fourth Skullcrack, four turns in a row.

He conceded.

My worst loss? Same event, the shop had a mox in their case for $80 and i didn't try to buy it.

June 8, 2015 12:05 p.m.

Best win? Playing a janky Grimgrin, Corpse-Born EDH deck in a six-player game, no one paying attention to me until it was me and a guy running Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir control, and then I blow up his board and swing for lethal commander damage.

Worst loss? Playing for first place at a RTR-era FNM. Opponent swings with Balefire Dragon, I have Ruric Thar, the Unbowed on the field untapped (Burst of Strength shenanigans). For some ungodly reason, I misremembered RT as having trample instead of reach, and seeing as I was only at 4 life, I conceded. My opponent and I took up our cards and shuffled them back in (this was game 2, and I'd won game one handily). I then proceeded to draw RT again in my opening hand, re-read him, and almost passed out from shock that I'd misread it.

One of the funniest wins: playing a janky temur deck, with ascendancy and ventmaw (no infinite combos, no consistency), against an esper dragons deck. Beatdown with dorks, and threw out Temur Ascendancy the first couple turns, before he tapped out and threw down an Ojutai. I dropped a Savage Ventmaw, drew off ascendancy and swung. No blocks. Using mana from ventmaw, Temur Battle Rage, hits for 8, then Crater's Claws'd with the remaining mana, for 5 damage, taking him down to exactly 0, and opponent just sat there like 'wut just happened?'

Don't know much about worst losses, though there are nights where I go horribly, nothing too interesting or funny though.

The best win I ever had was when I kept drawing into triggers while playing my R/W Heroic deck, and won in 3 turns.

The worst loss was the same night against Mardu Dragons, who kept drawing into Crackling Dooms and Foul-Tongue Invocations. I just conceded and got a tiny bit salty.

This was when I first started playing in August of 2014. It was my second opponent a s I had gone 0-1, a pretty routine start for the past two weeks going 0-4. I had a mono white tokens deck, no elspeth though ): , and my opponent was running a simic evolution deck, but he had Sylvan Caryatid for his Loxodon Smiter. It was wrecking me, it was game 3, and I only had a few turns to go before I would lose. So on his endstep I played 2 Raise the Alarm with 5 tokens, an Archetype of Courage and Dictate of Heliod on field. I drew into a Launch the Fleet, strived it, and won. It was more shocking than it sounds. It was the only round I won that night but I savoured it. Another win was when my opponent was playing ub control and had one life left and a Pearl Lake Ancient on field. I was using a jekai burn deck. My burn spells were countered numerous times and I had a few in my deck. My opponent started his assault after using vault to wipe the field twice, and attacked with his ancient last turn. I had one Goblin Rabblemaster in my hand and I couldn't believe it. If he wasn't able to counter it my token would come in for exactly one damage. I played it, it resolved, and I won with a 1/1 goblin token with haste. My opponent and I became good friends after that win and he still uses u/b till this day. I had a crushing defeat but I can't remember exactly how it went and I don't want to confuse people, but it was my first real game against my teacher. And he was playing mono blue memory adept.

probably my 3 favorite wins

1) playing my deck Get Kede-Rekt . i'm down to 2 life and have Kederekt Parasite out (some red thing) and underworld dreams. i have nothing good in hand. my opponent has a board state that would make most people cry and has 14 life since he was pinged for a few already. about to scoop when i topdeck Reforge the Soul. miracles are miracles.

2) me and a friend are playing standard. he has dimir and im playing gruul. he has the 3/4 flying specter that gives -1/-0 to all creatures opponent controlls. he also has some other big beater and 20 life. i have 1 life and an Elvish Mystic out. i have 8 mana out but this is still not going well. he knows he wins on his turn because he knows i dont have any flying in my deck to stop the specter or any kill spells (it wasnt a great deck ok). so i swing with my now 0/1 elvish mystic and tell him if im going to die im going to die swinging. he just laughs and lets it in because why not its a 0/1. YOU DONE MESSED UP. tap 3 mana for Rubblehulk. tap 3 mana for Rubblehulk number 2. tap last 2 lands for Ghor-Clan Rampager. hit him for 20. he stops laughing. just sort of stares at my cards. he just sort of got up and left.

3) it was prerelease for one of the newest sets. im playing super aggro mardu. playing against an abzan deck and it goes to game 3. some how because i have loads of lifegain i am at 40 life and we are going to turns. (im not sure how an aggro and midrange deck go to turns, but whatever). i was quickly losing board space since we were into the late game and i dont have anything to match his flying vigilance kirins or his 5/5 face beaters or the moving fortress of a card that is 4/7 giving things counters. my board has roughly 1 creature on it beacuse i just swung out to try and get the last few points of damage through. it didnt work he is still at 5 life. even though i have a 35 life point lead, i know its over if i dont do something right now. he is wary that i have something up my sleeve, because i have had something up my sleeve every time so far be it a Kill Shot or Ride Down or a surprise War Flare. so he only swings with his 5/5 lifelink. that way he can gain some life and deal a strong blow without over committing. i almost felt bad playing my Deflecting Palm.

I just got a Game 1 win against Elpokitolama after going down to 1 life. He had a Blood Moon on the board so my only source of mana was two Talisman of Dominance, and I had just managed to squeak out a victory with a Chalice of the Void on one and -4ing two different Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas. So clutch.

Best Win: Standard, last season I was running White Weenies and I was undefeated in my first FNM finals. It was game two, I won first game, I was playing against a RUG Monsters variant. The board was flooded on both sides, but neither could break through the others defenses and I was at 50 odd life and my opponent at about five. The problem is, my opponent had a full grip from just tapping out to cast Prime Speaker Zegana. My only hope was to top deck a Brave the Elements, and three were already in my GY. So, what do I do? Top deck it of course. My opponent shakes my hand and reveals an anger of the gods which would have won him the game next turn. It was an epic win for my first FNM 1st place.
