Urza, Lord High Artificer (Try Hard Edition)

Commander / EDH Mono-Blue

ManaDownUnder

Hey guys, this is a mono-blue Urza deck which is absolutely not recommended for casual playgroup settings. It's a combo-based try hard deck, which can be expensive to build and can cost you all of your friends as well. This deck is not a one trick pony, there are multiple possible interactions and win conditions.

To start with, we have Paradox Engine, which will untap all your nonland permanents, which means almost infinitely untapping those mana-producing artifacts (thanks Urza), so as long as you have cards in hand, your turn never ends. And yes, your activations from Urza count as casting spells, so they'll trigger Paradox Engine. Isochron Scepter can produce similar results, providing you imprint Dramatic Reversal underneath it.

Mechanised Production and Mirrodin Besieged both offer free win conditions, by having 8 clones of an artifact or having 15 artifacts in your graveyard, respectively. Mechanised Production can also simply copy your big hitting artifacts, making it pure value for its 4 CMC.

Blightsteel Colossus is a nasty card, but its high CMC is negated by Urza's mana-production abilities, making it far more viable than it would be normally. Similarly, Aetherflux Reservoir is easy to trigger as you can hit exponential lifegain with low-cost cards and untap abilities. Either of these cards can cause a big ol' smackdown for creatures or players.

If you have Training Grounds in play, Urza's activated ability suddenly costs a mere 3 mana, meaning you can be free-casting cards left, right and centre. It also works with other creatures like Memnarch and Walking Blister for additional abuse.

Mycosynth Lattice, Darksteel Forge and Unwinding Clock make for a great combo, making your whole board indestructible and able to untap with every player's turn. When you add Karn, the Great Creator, you can also lock down the activated abilites of all your opponents' cards, which can render some decks completely useless.

The rest of the deck are cards which support Urza's 3 main areas; token generation, mana production and free-casting the top of your library.
