The original idea behind this deck was to play the annoying angels: Avacyn, Reya, Iona, and Linvala. Since I figured the angels would get a lot of removal hate, I wanted a commander who might seem like as much of a threat as the angels. Mikaeus seemed like that Commander.

What has happened in play is that opponents rarely pay any attention to Mikaeus and by turn 3 he is putting +1/+1 counters on the various knights in the deck, and by turn 4 I have what looks more like an aggro deck than an angel deck.

Strategy

With Avacyn, Angel of Hope in the deck, one of the goals is obviously to make as much of my board as possible indestructible or close to it. The color protections offered by the various knights combine with Concerted Effort &/or Odric, Lunarch Marshal to help in this regard. The various anthem effects and bombs like Storm Herd and Entreat the Angels help me finish what my (accidental) early knight aggro started.

Update: Removed Iona. In most games she is simply too mana intensive, on one or two occasions she has been taken by Bribery and stopped me from casting White spells. Ouch. So I lowered my CMC by adding Gauntlet of Power .
