Great start. You've got some good cards in here! I do have a few suggestions:

If you're looking to be a token deck, then you'll need more token-producing cards. Cards like Raise the Alarm, Gather the Townsfolk, and Captain's Call are great for that, if you're looking for human tokens. There are endless amounts of red cards that give goblins, but a few are Krenko's Command and Empty the Warrens. Empty the Warrens is great because you can use your cards like Brute Force and Titan's Strength during your turn, then cast an Empty and boom, you have 6 goblin tokens.

As for aggro, I find Impact Tremors to be very useful, especially if you run 2 or 3 of them. Also, you may want to consider adding more instants that buff your creatures so you can trigger Akroan Crusader's effect. It might be a good idea to look in to other cards with heroic, like Akroan Skyguard, so you can target them and make them threatening. Also, I think Attended Knight might be a better fit than Akroan Sergeant because although they both have first strike, the latter doesn't allow you to put tokens onto the battlefield. In addition, you might want to think about adding Smash to Smithereens, Blazing Salvo or Ray of Dissolution to your sideboard. Having these cards on the sideboard will be helpful in achieving the level of aggression you desire once you size up your opponent. Outnumber is a great card, so I'd stick that in the sideboard too! Wojek Halberdiers and Unruly Mob are some good cards, there's plenty of potential with those. As for Porcelain Legionnaire, I don't see him synergizing with your deck very well. Maybe you see something that I don't, and that's okay! You might be better off with Skyknight Legionnaire, since it is more of a threat with flying and haste.

I hope this book of a comment helped!

Awesome start, keep it up!

Thanks AmazingGrace15, took your advises and made a few changes. As soon as I get more cards I'll take care of Akroan Serge.

-4 Tempered Steel+2 Steel Overseer+2 Chief of the Foundry

Seriously the exact same effects, except at easier to meet mana conditions. Also raises Artifact count for Overseer/Cranial Plating to be more profitable.

Very good for budget +1, some more creatures wouldn't hurt if you could find some that fits your play style perhaps Soldier of the Pantheon?

aekrusty You got the deck idea down I like it. My main concern is only 8 SB cards, why not just got the full 15? Why have less options when you can have more? It couldn't hurt to have more Tidehollow Sculler in my opinion. I love that card. I especially believe Appetite for Brains is a seriously underplayed card. Especially when Eldrazi tron and combo decks like Ad Naseum and Scapeshift variants being a thing. I understand this being a budget deck, but it couldn't hurt to invest in better discard like Inquisition of Kozilek. Also Celestial Crusader, and Honor of the Pure are some good additions. With Elspeth, Sun's Champion being a strong and affordable late game card. Since this is trying to go budget, I won't bother with naming path, but have you thought of Condemn and Blessed Alliance in your SB? They are such good threats with Death Shadow decks. Also, my brother plays these in Junk, and they seem like they could work here as more removal/filter Cast Out. Early game filter, and a catch all removal later on.

Great synergy with the Sorcery Spells! +1

I like it. Maybe instead of Despise use Harsh Scrutiny. I would give Elspeth, Sun's Champion a try.

Seems solid. Have you considered Spear of Heliod as another anthem effect? It's also adequate removal

So Since your not running Honor of the Pure have you considered Sram's Expertise? Even if you do run Honor of the Pure its a great card that gives you tokens and something else for free.

It looks solid, the only things I'd suggest is stuff that seems to be omitted for budget purposes like Fatal Push and path, Thoughtseize, possibly Godless Shrine and Marsh Flats. The mana base isn't vital, because yours looks functional. I just feel like a few fetches and a couple shocks would smooth your draws just that little bit to be worth it over time. It's really not like you'd even know which games it's made a difference but it's just the fact that over 1000 repetitions it probably is.

I wouldn't use Despise in your mainboard. It'd actually be better to swap it for maindeck Tidehollow Sculler.

More importantly, however, I think you need some other kind of removal. Path to Exile is the obvious choice, but it's out of your budget. I'd consider Dismember or Condemn as alternatives. You can also mix things up with Go for the Throat, Murderous Cut, and Victim of Night. I'd at least move around some Doom Blades to make room for those. That way, you have a mix of things and don't just lose to a Siege Rhino or Grim Flayer. Oblivion Ring and Journey to Nowhere also do a lot of work.

At least one Timely Reinforcements can drastically improve your chances when you're behind. It's an absolute beast of a card against decks like Burn.

4 Zealous Persecution seems like a lot. I'd cut 2 of them for Elspeth, Knight-Errant, Oath of Gideon, Promise of Bunrei, or (probably the best choice) Secure the Wastes. If you want to go even more budget, Triplicate Spirits is a cheap alternative to the above.

Vault of the Archangel will win you games. You only need 1, but may find you like it so much you want it every game.

The other issue I see is your mana curve. Normally, your 1-drops are Inquisition of Kozilek and Thoughtseize. Since you're on a budget, the Duresses are a good choice. I'd still add some other 1-drops. Soul Warden, Weathered Wayfarer, Thraben Inspector, or some other 1-drop white creature are all good here.

For your sideboard, I'd go something like:

2x Brave the Elements
2x Burrenton Forge-Tender
3x Disenchant/Stony Silence
3x Journey to Nowhere/Go for the Throat/Victim of Night
2x Oblivion Ring
3x Relic of Progenitus/Rest in Peace/Tormod's Crypt

What about adding "Growing Ranks" or if money isn't an object, "Parallel Lives?"

Path to Exile Murderous Cut seem like better removal than Doom Blade. tested this against the modern deck im working on Liliana's Rogue (playtest plus advertising 2 for 1 ehhhhhh) and it goes well untill you dont have an answer other than chump blocking. not just my deck but alot of decks our there run black creatures like the rhino and Death's Shadow. Oblivion Ring is a card i love but much slower.

maybe consider Hero of Bladehold? $4 is budget-y i guess. or Auriok Champion against burn.

How about Allied Reinforcements and Secure the Wastes? Anointed Procession might be an option as well.

Maybe Thoughtseize instead of Duress. Especially goes well with the life loss synergy you have.

Other than Sorin's 2/2s all your tokens are white...Honor of the Pure x2 could do work. I think Raise the Alarm is a superior token producer to Gather the Townsfolk due to it's instant speed. Just a personal opinion though. Lastly, a sideboard suggestion I find kind of clever in this kind of deck is Surgical Extraction. Tron is kind of a big deal for us and while Tec edge takes down a land, I think Ghost Quarter is the better one to run main as it can be used before tron is active. When combined with extraction it is devastating to tron, titan shift, etc. Awesome deck +1.

It's a bit of a heavy drop but Elspeth, Sun's Champion is good at making tokens, 3 a turn is strong and you can clear the board from strong creatures. Have you considered Anointed Procession? You do stall out on turn 4 with it, so if you have good blockers up it could you set you ahead in the next few turns.

Agueliethun says... #21

Just wondering, is there any reason that Anointed Procession isn't in here somewhere? Seems like it would fit in the mana curve, and since the entire point of the deck is putting out 1/1's and going wide, this card could only help.

May 30, 2017 8:22 a.m.

I like the deck! Its just standard vamps but it can run all of the cool cards instead of a select few. One suggestion I have for your deck is Radiant Destiny. It is pretty cheap for a standard anthem and gives vigilance very easily because your board wants to go wide. For some reason Tappedout is telling me that Radiant Destiny is not legal in brawl, but Im pretty sure thats an error. Its not banned in standard and they share the same ban list.

Sure Blaze_Unicycle. As soon as I get it, as well as Vona's Hunger. If you look clesely everything in Brawl and Tiny Leaders is illegal. I'm sure it's an issue. I'm still not sure between Elenda and Vona who should I give a try. What do you think?

March 30, 2018 9:30 a.m.

Im honestly not sure. Elena is one mana easier to get out, which can curve nicely into Bishop of the Bloodstained, but this integration is usually irrelevant. Vona can be used for consistent removal, which I like. You should try them both out and go with what you think is best. Fumigate and Dusk / Dawn are great board wipes that still benefit you through life gain and now killing all of your dudes or letting you have them back.

March 30, 2018 2:52 p.m.

I'm wondering about Sword-Point Diplomacy in this deck. Because brawl is usually a multiplayer format and everyone starts at 30 life, I bet most players will not care about losing 9 life split in between them. Because it's casual, many 4 person games would probably end up with all of your opponents taking 3 life each, which is almost nothing. Also get ready for Dominaria. There are going to be so many good cards that you can add; it will probably be tough to make room for them, but they will be worth it.
