Put a -1/-1 counter on each creature you don't control. You may search your library and/or grave yard for a card named Liliana, Death Wielder, reveal it, and put it into your hand. If you search your library this way, shuffle it.

Liliana's Influence Discussion
@nerf_herder_2983 you are right. I think ill remove Crocodile of the Crossing, Soul-Scar Mage and The Scorpion God and go for a discard engine using Ruthless Sniper (4x), Archfiend of Ifnir (3x), Noose Constrictor (4x) and Key to the City (4x). I might even add some Deserts or at least some dual lands for and/or to use the aftermath effects. And going for 2x Ammit Eternal and 4x Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons might help with setting up my combo. I will swap the red sorceries for some black/green removal or control cards(suggestions?) I think i will add Liliana deathwielder and Liliana's Influence for some more control over the enemy board and my own graveyard. These changes will probably make my mana Management easier and enable some early turn plays.

I built your deck, but changed a few things.
I kept the two Liliana's Influence cards in the starter. I played several games today (my TCGPlayer order with all the cards I needed arrived today), and after several games, I decided to swap out 1 Crocodile of the Crossing, 1 Channeler Initiate, and 1 Baleful Ammit, and add 1 Forest, 1 Swamp, and 1 Obelisk Spider, which I got in a HOD prerelease set.
The way that you initially built it seems to suffer from a serious mana deficit that the Channeler Initiates cannot be counted on to compensate for.
Thank you for building this and giving me a template on which to improve the grossly underpowered Liliana starter deck.

Dream3r I have looked at all cards in black red standard that put -1/-1 counters on creatures in any way and this deck was my top picks. Yes, Liliana costs a lot, but that's why there is only one. If I'm in a standard game where I get enough mana to bring her out, either she or Liliana's Influence would be in my hand at some point.
I agree Ammit Eternal is a great creature, but just kind of that. I don't have any cards that would be able to move counters from him, or anything like that. (Now that I'm thinking about it, though, he would work great with Key to the City) My point is, I'll keep him in mind, but he really is just a good creature that doesn't really go with anything. I do notice my lack of combat presence, though, which is why I'll keep him in mind.
Finally, the short one. Soul-Scar Mage is literally a 1/2 prowess in this version as all damage I deal is either combat or to player. I'll keep him in mind in case I want to do half burn, half counters, though. (Maybe there are burn spells with cycle? That wouldn't be bad at all.)
If I see better synergy with a green card, I may add it as a splash.
Anyway, thank you for the suggestions, and I'll see what I can do with this knowledge to make this deck better. (Sorry that this got a little long winded)

bellz76, I like those ideas, as Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons and Decimator Beetle both need to attack to place -1/-1 counters, the Beetle's faster, but still falls to massive creatures, first strikers, and death touchers.
Archfiend I think would be sb to replace Liliana's Influence, specifically for those players hand hating me, because I have no discard or cycling otherwise in this deck. But now I see why you suggested those two together, as the key requires a discard to function. That bears testing. Thank you.

Hey friend! First small suggestion: it's generally more helpful to see card types first, so I'd suggest making your default order by type (looks like you have it by set).
Next, I'd highly recommend cutting the cards in your deck to 60. The reason for this is that it makes you more likely to draw your best cards (a max of 4/60 chance rather than 4/71). Usually, 24 lands and 36 non-lands is a good ratio (you have 23, which means you really need to cut spells or otherwise you'll never draw enough lands). In order to get there, I'd initially cut out every card that doesn't achieve your stated goal of -1/-1 counters. It appears that Archfiend of Ifnir is crucial to your strategy, so I'd also keep everything with cycling at first. Sadly, that means Landfall and your Allies will have to go -- maybe you can build a second deck focused on them, but decks succeed the most when they are tightly focused on a single mechanic. Also, cards that have only been printed in Conspiracy (like Capital Punishment and Pyrokinesis) are illegal in Modern, so put them in your EDH/Commander deck instead.
Then, strategically add extra copies of the cards you've already got that oil your deck's engines. Archfiend of Ifnir is so important to your strategy that you'll want 3-4, for example. So is Liliana's Influence. However, you will still likely be below 60 cards if you really did cut everything extraneous, so now you get to the fun part where you get to add cards.
Prioritize adding cards that support -1/-1 counters and discarding. I'd put it 4 Tormenting Voice, as well as Fiery Temper, Alms of the Vein, Hazoret the Fervent, Ruthless Sniper, and anything with the Wither keyword (use the advanced card search on T/O to find those!). Cycling, as I've noted, also synergizes really well with what you've got so far.
I hope this helps prep you for a tourney! Of course, the best advice I can give is to play lots of games, and pursue improvement! Best of luck, and mention me (same way you mention a card, by putting my username in double square brackets) if I can do anything else to help! Cheers.
