Midnight Banshee Discussion

Thanks for the suggestions, xaarvaxus. The Command Tower is from a previous iteration of the deck when it was black/blue and ran a different commander. Definitely will replace that!

This deck used to focus a lot more on -1/-1 counters, but I decided to try a more aristocrat style. I do have a Midnight Banshee , and will consider swapping that in as part of the -1/-1 counter subtheme. Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx would definitely be in the deck if I had one. It will be in here once I do.

Midnight Banshee seems like it would be amazing with Yawg.

A couple of old school cards that may work well are Serrated Arrows and Fevered Convulsions . Slow but steady sources of -1/-1 counters.

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx would be a great addition as well. I know it's not cheap but it is less expensive than Cabal Coffers and won't require a combo with Tomb to work.

Not sure what Command Tower is being used for. Is there a reason to not use just another basic Swamp?

You know, I was really hoping you'd point out some key thing I was missing about Necroskitter that warranted keeping him. Damn. Love that guy.

Anyway...the biggest issue I can see with this build is that so many picks revolve around having Hapatra and/or Scarabs in play, or in having lots of snakes and bugs from those two cards. Even with seven of those cards and three tutors, that seems questionable. Therefore, I think the best stuff too look at would be cards that work better with your token generators, but are still strong without them.

Carnifex Demon ? Deity of Scars ? Midnight Banshee ? Dusk Urchins ?

I was pretty interested to see that Cutthroat is your only Blood Artist Like effect. Midnight Banshee going with your Necroskitter from an earlier comment would be good as well. If you are wanting to focus more so on the Proliferate, you could add some infect like cards, such as Skittles, Plague Myr , Core Prowler .

Based on how your deck performed, you were running fairly low on life, thus more Blood Artist effects I feel will keep you in the game, or at least offset your saccing and paying life to do so. Crumbling Ashes can also let you put a counter on something, then blow it up on your turn. Ophiomancer is also a solid include, giving you fodder at each upkeep.

Id also look at Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons decks to see what black cards they run, since Yawgmoth will also likely care for such cards

I love the idea of Extraplanar Lens honestly! I am just at a loss of what to cut for it, the list feels real tight as is, I don't really want to lower my creature count much more. But I am thinking Midnight Banshee is a wee bit slow, even though it is free counters... It is still 6 mana, perhaps it can go.

I REALLY want to make room for Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed , seeing as how I have multiple ways to bring him back, and he can bring back virtually ANY card outside of artifacts in this deck. (I guess not the devoid guys, but still.) A way to recur my high threat enchantments would always be useful.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I was considering one more undying creature to potentially go infinite with Geralf's Messenger . Sadly the only card I can think of is Butcher Ghoul which is really mediocre outside of the infinite combo with Geralf's Messenger . Maybe I don't need it as I do have a few ways of creating tokens from things dying. Any thoughts on this?

Midnight Banshee seems like it might be a good card for him. Gives good synergy with his -1/-1 counter theme, and makes sure those counters are on your opponent's creatures when you do want to proliferate.

Also From Under the Floorboards might be worth considering as it's a good cards to discard. Not sure how good it is for Yawgmoth, but it's a game ending card in my Lord Windgrace deck because it's easy to madness.

Library of Leng , lastly, might be worth including for him too since you can discard cards for proliferation to the top of your library, then use his other ability to put them right back to your hand.

To keep your theme I've suggested some improvements

Faeries

Faerie Harbinger - Tutor for the fary you need

Inspired Sprite - Extra Card draw

Mistbind Clique - Basically a one turn time warp - more if you can bounce with effects like Glen Elendra Pranksters

Nightshade Schemers - Since most of your deck is Faerie

Scion of Oona - Faerie lord - the shroud could be beneficial too

Spellstutter Sprite - Counter spell - more if you can bounce with effects like Glen Elendra Pranksters

Sprite Noble - Weaker "Faerie" Lord - most likely to cut

Sirens

Siren of the Silent Song or Raven's Crime - discard

Hypnotic Siren - on theme version of Spirit away but not dead in hand early game

Siren Stormtamer - counter spell

Banshee

Midnight Banshee - might hurt with all the blue you play but strong against many decks

Krakens

Thing in the Ice  Flip

Scourge of Fleets - Cyclonic Rift type effect for all opponents - good with repeatable bounce maybe something like Mark of Eviction, Sunken Hope, Trusted Advisor, Faerie Impostor, or Quickling

I would Remove Macabre Waltz, Fill with Fright, Send to Sleep, Wings of Velis Vel, Fear, Phyresis with Glistening Oil (repeatable infect + used as removal in pinch), Psychic Surgery, Sleep Paralysis, Waterknot (your in black use actual removal), Faerie Invaders, Oona's Gatewarden (sorry I know oona's the general but its a weak card) and Dauthi Embrace (I know you said its a win con but most of your creatures are evasive on their own)

goldlion: Honestly, the most likely cuts for Cryptolith Rite, Driven / Despair, and Glistening Oil are Necroskitter, Midnight Banshee, and Exotic Orchard. But that drives my creature count even lower, making Survival of the Fittest a less and less good card... It’s hard to balance things.
