Midnight Banshee Discussion

Madhava on Daghatar & the Persisters

I had Heartmender in an earlier version, along with Midnight Banshee. :D

Puppeteer Clique is awesome. But what to cut?

Izu_Korasu on Good starter Commanders

Agent_Fire well your refined list of generals have a wide range of battle plans. so for each general ill provide an EDHREC link which can give you a better feel for how the typical deck plays, and its common contents.

that being said, I would probably steer you away from Surrak Eldrazi, between the basically 4c budget manabase () and the inherent hate players have for eldrazi, it might be an idea to table for now.

Thromok the Insatiable EDHREC is somewhat a standard g/r token deck, with token engines like Dragonlair Spider, Mycoloth support a large Thromok with Soul's Fire and Purphoros, God of the Forge type effects to maximize damage.

Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons EDHREC is almost the opposite, using an unconventional approach to generate tokens as a byproduct of cards like Midnight Banshee, Contagion Clasp and other similar (undervalued) cards that create interesting combo's and shenanigans.

Jhoira of the Ghitu EDHREC is a versatile commander that can be used for many shells (in my playgroup there is a Jhoira Eldrazi tribal deck) and chaos is easily one of the more fun options (most involve Obliterate+suspended Blightsteel Colossus/eldrazi titan) so she tends to draw hate... but for chaos tappedout user:Moondragon85 has a deck with a similar goal Eye of the Chaos Storm which could help you decide if its the route for you.

Fit in Midnight Banshee and put in Silence the Believers in place of Final Reward.A much better card as it still exiles, base mana the same but I can use it to exile more then one creature if wished.

Spirits on You can't Touch That! Under 50$ format

Hi SolomonsEfreet,

Nice to have seen the 1/1 Snakes be set free on Thursday.

Black Sun's Zenith $3 would be all star.

Gale Force is a high CMC, it will kill 1/1 Thopter but little else in this format. Why not just Toxic Deluge for 1.

Really like Sorceress Queen, very cool.

Guul Draz Assassin is just -2/-2, he doesn't use counters so he's not right, won't make 1/1 Snakes. Why not just a Royal Assassin for 1/3 the cost.

Gladehart Cavalry for CMC 7, he adds +1/+1 counters, which actually remove -1/-1 counters, which you then won't be able to proliferate. He's counter productive with this Commander.

Rendclaw Trow has Wither and Persist, so he makes 2 1/1 Snakes when blocked, plus 1 1/1 Snake when he persists. 3 1/1 Snakes, a 2/2 wither, a 1/1 wither for CMC 3 is pretty OP for $0.25.

Alpha Authority, Enchantment based Hexproof (unless it's Bestow or something), isn't usually good, Swiftfoot Boots a far better option.

Never//Return could be a Hero's Downfall which is Instant speed and less than $3.50.

Carnifex Demon can keep making snakes for . CMC 6 for 4/4 Flying + 2 1/1 Snakes then for another 2 1/1 Snakes and he becomes a 6/6 Flying. Pretty decent. You have some other CMC 7 creatures that do much less for $0.60, like Arachnus Spinner, Skysnare Spider.

Midnight Banshee could create a few 1/1 Snakes, he doesn't hit himself or Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons. Just think of the poor 2/2 Wolfs though! He also is Whither, much better than a Arachnus Spinner or Skysnare Spider.

Grim Affliction the proliferate seems good, but not sure how many lingering -1/-1 there are. Definetely if you continue to pump up your -1/-1 counters through Wither and ETB's it would be useful. It's 2 1/1 Snakes but could be many more depending on the board state.

Deity of Scars CMC 5 for a 5/5 Trample is good, comes with 2 1/1 Snakes and for can make 2 more 1/1 Snakes and regenerate! $2.50 though, not sure if anyone of value can come out.

Some ideas anyway.

HOPMONSTER on Hapatra -1/-1 Snakes

Good build, here are some fun cards I've tried in my own Hapatra deck that you might want to consider: Midnight Banshee, Gyre Sage, Carnifex Demon, Ulvenwald Tracker, Liliana, Death Wielder, Plaguemaw Beast, Collective Unconscious, Lockjaw Snapper, Hunter of Eyeblights.

I saw Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons and immediately loved the build-around potential. She just generates so much value!

A few possible additions I've found:

Quillspike goes infinite with Devoted Druid and also helps control the -1/-1 counters on your side of the board. Midnight Banshee and Carnifex Demon give great sweeper value and all pump out snakes with your commander. It's a little on the pricier side but Mikaeus, the Unhallowed has great synergy with your snake army. And if you want another Overrun effect that is extra synergistic, why not Triumph of the Hordes?

Take a look at my Hapatra deck for more ideas, and let me know if you have any suggestions for me! I'm looking forward to really developing this new commander with my playgroup.
