I thought that Heartless Hidetsugu was too high risk when he was first printed, but I think there are enough ways to tip the scales in your favor now (for EDH, anyway).

The ramp plan is pretty basic, as is the heavy artifact theme in mono red. The interactions that I really care about showing off are Bitter Feud, Curse of Bloodletting, Platinum Emperion, Batterskull, Loxodon Warhammer, And Basilisk Collar. All of these make activating Hidetsugu a real treat. He can kill with one activation, drop your opponent to 1, and/or gain you a ton of life.

I was running Blood Moon and Magus of the Moon , but just cut them in favor of more 2cmc accelerants. It just led to a ton of non-games. I'm still leaving Ruination in for now. I think Mind's Eye and Staff of Nin are super slow, but I think I still want them over Bottled Cloister and Coercive Portal . I just don't wanna deal with those blowouts.
