An upgrade to the Lorehold Strixhaven preconstructed commander deck. I added a spellbomb package, to draw cards and get value and card advantage with Osgir while still having enough mana to cat your spells. Similarly, 2 cmc rocks are good in the deck, as I describe later.

The precon has a lot of great cards, but it has a few not so great ones too. We can take these out to make room for cards that will help our game plan. Also, there are a lot of good cards, but there are better options for their slot in our deck out there, so I took a lot of the mediocre cards out as well.

Since we want to be casting things, drawing cards and activating Osgir, we'll need mana. This is why rocks are so good in the deck. You can tap them for mana and pay for the cost to sacrifice them, then pay the rock's cmc to get 2 copies, which make that mana back right away. This ramp will not only help us get our value engines going faster, but as a bonus they boost our artifact count.

Once the game goes on a bit, you will have used Osgir to generate ramp and value off of spellbombs, and cast some cards from your hand. Whether from sacrifice, discarding, or the cards going to the graveyard naturally, you should start to have larger artifacts in your graveyard. Now is the time to use Osgir to duplicate these big things. He generates incredible value when he creates 2 of something with a larger cmc. You just looted and discarded a Duplicant ? Let's pay 6 and create 2 of those, essentially stealing 2 creatures. Prototype Portal ? One is good. Two is better.

We run one infinite combo, Prototype Portal and Ugin's Nexus , which is enabled through Osgir's sacrifice ability for infinite turns. There are a lot more out there, but I wanted to keep this deck casual, and stay mostly away from any infinite combos. We only run this one since I would have put both cards in the deck seperately anyway, since they're great in here each on their own. There are a few ways to set this one up though, fetching prototype portal to the battlefield or graveyard (you still need ugin's nexus in hand though).

Mostly, we plan to out-value our opponents to death. If they aren't oppressed by our Ethersworn Canonist coming back when it gets killed, or our etb's from Angel of the Ruins , Myr Battlesphere and Combustible Gearhulk , however, we may need to grab a more solid win condition. Hellkite Igniter is such a fast finisher if it can get through. Hellkite Tyrant is a notorious win condition (and you can do some feldon shenanigans if you get it in the graveyard!). Digsite Engineer will quickly overwhelm your opponents with constructs.

What's better than value? More value. Rings of Brighthearth , Illusionist's Bracers , Battlemage's Bracers and Anointed Procession all let you double up on value. Plus, 3 of them are artifacts, meaning you can sac them and then create 2 of them for 3 times the value! I don't know about you, but paying 5 mana for 6 Bronze Guardian s and getting ward 12 on everything, plus at least 6 8/5's with double strike, sounds pretty freaking awesome to me. How about 1 mana for 6 Sol Ring s? 6 mana for 6 Coveted Jewel s, drawing 18 cards and getting 18 mana? The possibilities are endless, and all super fun.

That's the ultimate reason why I really love this commander, and this deck: It's fun. It looks incredibly enjoyable to pilot, finding little combos and interactions, looting, duplicating artifacts, drawing tons of cards, and amassing a board of value artifacts. That's another reason why I didn't want to lean too much into infinite combos. They instantly end a game, and therefore end the fun. I'll be playing this deck for fun, in a strong but casual pod, so my goal is to go off and do stuff, not necessarily win without enjoying myself.
