**First Deck Build****

  • First time playing Magic, started with a Sefris of the Hidden Ways starter set and have been building from there
  • I want to take advantage of playing cards from the graveyard at no mana cost by loading it with high cost creatures and bringing them out early if I can
  • There are a good amount of dungeon crawling cards so I could move quickly and trigger Sefris' second ability
  • Trying to find ways to sacrifice my own creatures during opponents turns so that I can trigger Sefris' first ability each turn
  • I like the control blue offers with counter spells

x__ Playthrough

  • It works sometimes, lots of dungeon crawling (4 rooms per turn, lots of dungeon loot) and getting expensive creatures out with Sefris (can chain the effect with creatures like 'Karmic Guide') - I try to attack each turn looking to be blocked and get my creature killed so I can trigger Sefris' first ability on my turn
  • Usually slow to get started and struggling to get creatures into the graveyard (I complete a dungeon but no creature for Sefris to resurrect) - not great at card draw, so when I can't cast from the graveyard I run low on spells in hand

Updates Add

  • happy with how the deck is performing, and getting Ashnod's Altar to sac creatures has been a great addition. Having that sac outlet has opened up a way for me to trigger Sefris' 1st ability on other players turns without relying on them to kill my creature for me
  • always finding spicy new creatures to cycle into the deck: Sidisi, Undead Vizier - Yosei, the Morning Star (pairs well with Ashnod's Altar) - Angel of the Ruins
  • I added more ways to get creatures into my graveyard on other players turns beyond sacing with Ashnod's Altar: Oriq Loremage - Sinister Starfish
  • Taigam, Sidisi's Hand and Lazav, the Multifarious are letting me use my graveyard as currency and I am searching for more of this
  • Archaeomancer has been a great find. The ability to get counter spells back to my hand has let me cut back on the number of counter spells I have in the deck. With Archaeomancer, Sun Titan, and Fortuitous Find, I can get 98% of the cards in the deck back from the graveyard
  • trying to make the deck more consistent by including more card draw and mana ramp
  • I am beginning to run into some graveyard hate so I will deal with that next. In the meantime, having ways to instantly return creatures from graveyard to hand (Phyrexian Reclamation - Tortured Existence) is working ok to save a few of the cards in there
