Rakshasa Debaser

Creature — Cat Demon

Whenever Rakshasa Debaser attacks, put target creature card from defending player's graveyard onto the battlefield under your control.

Encore (, Exile this card from your graveyard, create a token copy that attacks that opponent this turn if able. They gain haste. Sacrifice them at the beginning of the next end step. Activate this ability only as a sorcery.)

id probably start with cutting Glorious Anthem, Duelist's Heritage, Strionic Resonator, Sunforger, Navigation Orb, Defiant Strike, Deflecting Palm, Night's Whisper, Rakshasa Debaser, Shakedown Heavy, Hoarding Ogre, Imperial Recruiter, Inferno Titan, Wingmate Roc,

Combat Calligrapher will get you killed ,

Tori D'Avenant, Fury Rider is fair if you go the exalted route, idk about tokens,

maybe Tuktuk Rubblefort, you could always useUrabrask the Hidden instead

Throw in a random Tainted Strike. It probably wont be too hard to kill hit for 9 with a single creature.

Okay, let's take a look at some of these. First note is, budget isn't really a concern, because pretty much all of my games are online these days, through servers like Cockatrice.

Master of Cruelty, Demonlord Belzenlok, and Burning-Rune Demon were all on my short list. Master of Cruelty is a little too build-around for my preference in this deck, but it's a great card. Belzenlok and B-R Demon would help to give it consistency, and Belzenlok in particular has a good chance of finding its way back in.

I had overlooked Dragon Tempest, so that's definitely going in.

I'll play around with Raphael, Fiendish Savior, Ob Nixilis, Unshackled, and Rakshasa Debaser and see what they do for this deck. I especially like the lifelink, since this deck plays more recklessly than my usual style.

This is my first Demon tribal deck, so I'm still working out the details. The 6-8 mana slots fill up fast. Incidentally, how do you submit a deck to EDHrec?

Once again, thanks for the suggestions!

Hey, this is a really good start for could be less than $50, but you did forget Sol Ring.

Anje Falkenrath is a nice budget legendary Vampire for repeatable loot to help to setup Olivia. Consider more sac outlets? Goblin Bombardment and High Market are excellent and Undercity Informer is fine. Consistently you really want a sac outlet to protect creatures you reanimate with Olivia from being exiled.

Falkenrath Aristocrat is a creature who Olivia can reanimate and since it has flying that helps it to survive combat since it enters attacking. Dark Privilege is a budget old/rarely seen card, but can be powerful when enchanted to Olivia. Repeatable regeneration can protect Olivia from combat damage letting her more freely attack to trigger. The creature Olivia reanimated can be fodder to sac to regenerate her which is helpful when you're reanimating a creature who has an ETB effect such as Vile Entomber. Viscera Seer is a one drop sac outlet that gives you some library manipulation to help draws.

Anje and the sac outlets are support cards and I think you can afford to cut a few high CMC creatures who have redundant effects to add them. You have many ways to tutor directly for a creature of your choice and put it into your graveyard which gives you leeway to play mostly the better creatures here to reanimate.

Some cuts to consider:

Good luck with your deck.

Nice list. A couple of thoughts.... I saw you mentioned you have issues with lands/ramp. By removing the more expensive, less synergistic cards with lands/ramp, it should help make the deck more consistent...

Hedonist's Trove - Stealing cards is fun but not needed

Rakshasa Debaser - See above

Thieving Amalgam - See above

Endbringer's Revel - Black has MUCH better forms of recursion. Dance of the dead, animate dead, necomancy, etc... although if you want not to field recursion, Oversold Cemetery

Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted - Cool with peer from the abyss but too costly. Having opponents draw cards is worse too. Using it on your own creatures for draw seems meh

Witch Engine - Slow ramp that benefits opponents? No thanks

Necrosis24 on asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar or chainer, nightmare adept?? …

For Chainer, Nightmare Adept, looting is your friend its sorta like having a limited second hand. Of course you can use his ability only once a turn so I think having a good amount of recursion like Apprentice Necromancer is good. Pair it with cards like Grim Haruspex you can refill your hand to discard more cards. So I would build it as a looting deck focused on recuring good stuff.

  1. Discard and cast Apprentice Necromancer using Chainer, Nightmare Adept’s ability.
  2. Sacrifice Apprentice Necromancer bring back a creature from your graveyard such as Archfiend of Despair swing and sacrifice it at your end step.
  3. With Grim Haruspex in play you will draw a card which you can discard to Chainer, Nightmare Adept to recast Apprentice Necromancer next turn.

Using madness cards can help you retain some more value as well.

Another fun thing you could do is target Phyrexian Delver with Apprentice Necromancer and you can recur another target creature permanently. Keep in mind you can do this on other people’s turns as well so with enough mana you could recur 3-4 creatures a round but keep in mind Phyrexian Delver does drain your life.

You can also utilize sac outlets if you do use nonpermanent recursion. So Viscera Seer, Altar of Dementia, Goblin Bombardment, etc.

Encore could also fit in Rakshasa Debaser.

Just try not to include too many different things or the deck becomes too janky. Tho we all love our jank.
