Jaya Ballard, Task Mage Too Hot!!! Death to Blue

Commander / EDH* Aggro Competitive Control Mono-Red

jordansgoldowl

Important note: I have deconstructed this mono red deck and turned it into mono red purphoros goblin tribal. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/purphoros-competitive-edh/ I did this because I felt like this deck became purely too focused on 1v1 and something which stopped embodying the ideals of edh.

If you are looking to play mono-red, look no further Jaya Ballard, Task Mage is your girl. Also, she's like the first planeswalker and you basically get to play a planeswalker as your commander. This sexy vixen will melt you away. She's too hot to handle. Play with fire and you get burned!

Aggro and Control all in one. Also anti-blue for all you blue haters out there.

How it plays:Basically has control like a blue deck but as red and all the benefits with red. Turns 1-2 are focused on ramp or one/two drop creatures. Turn 3 Jaya or more face beats. Turn 4+ control and/or beat down with creatures. In conclusion, this deck likes to control the board while beating face with beatsticks. If you get the opponent's life down to 20 by turn 5 you're doing it right. This deck was also built to function with multiple board sweepers with man lands and man land enablers such as Mutavault, Mishra's Factory, and Koth of the Hammer to maintain constant pressure.

What is this deck good against? Control, combo, and decks that don't play many creatures before turn 4 cause Jaya Ballard, Task Mage can hopefully burn them by then.

What gives this deck a hard time? Aggro, life-gain, reanimation decks.

Did I mention I hate blue? I'm talking to you Narset, Enlightened Master. Ya, nothing better than the tears of blue players.

This deck does fairly well in a semi-competitive meta such as one with land wipes or against blue decks. If you don't play in cutthroat games or are on budget, you can switch out some pricey and land d cards for fun cards like Insurrection, Warp World , or Inferno . But because my Narset, Enlightened Master friend who decided to use Armageddon, I've decided to try and show him that blue can't control red.

Why am I not running Squee, Goblin Nabob?I've tinkered with him in and out of the main list and I feel like Jaya's discard doesn't hurt the function of the deck that much without Squee.

Why the hate on blue? Excessive counters and extra turn effects.

Why run Red Elemental Blast and Pyroblast ? See above...

Blue OP!!! Sorry end of rant.
