Thunderblust

Creature — Elemental

Haste

Thunderblust has trample as long as it has a -1/-1 counter on it.

Persist (When this creature is put into a graveyard from play, if it had no -1/-1 counters on it, return it to play under its owner's control with a -1/-1 counter on it.)

Hey man great first commander deck, looks like a lot of fun. Consider adding some creature upgrades

Whiptail Wurm and Panglacial Wurm is another good one since you can tutor for it using Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse.

IF you can afford it, it's 100% worth it to run Chromatic Lantern in a deck like this since you're running 20 ish basic lands.

Another good option is Gigapede and Deadly Insect which are both basically 6/6 shroud beatsticks in your deck. Other good options include Coiling Woodworm and Thunderblust

Also you need some hates enablers like Rhythm of the Wild and Fires of Yavimaya.

Good luck dude!

Hey, nice casual budget version, but are undying creatures other than Mikaeus and Flayer really worth it?

Consider more enablers to get +1/+1 counters on your creatures?

If you're going for an attacking strategy then consider a few more fliers that have some added value when they die or when they ETB?

Bloodtracker + Sword of Hours is a nice interaction. Some sac outlets are helpful to sac creatures who have counters to get their die or ETB triggers.

You have several high CMC creatures here, more reanimation and enablers could help.

Olivia, Mobilized for War is a +1/+1 counter enabler and an enabler for reanimation.

Some cards to consider cutting:

Good luck with your deck.

DankMagicianD thanks for the comment! I’ve never heard of Ambuscade Shaman, out of every card you mentioned I think I would for sure want to try it out. Cuts are so damn hard though. I especially love that he is 3 cmc for Aluren.

The only good use I see for Luminous Broodmoth is etb effects or if I already have a sac outlet on board, otherwise the suicide squad will just die on the next turn.

I spent a couple weeks testing Thunderkin Awakener on Xmage (online commander website), it does okay, but I think recursion / graveyard protection is covered pretty well already.

Lastly, Thunderblust is really cool, I just wish it didn’t cost 5 mana to cast. If it were 4 cmc like Blistering Firecat that would be really cool. The 3 red devotion is tough too.

Thank you so much for the comment though, it really means a lot in helping to give the deck synergy. So many people have had a hand in building this deck with me both online and in person. Do you have any suggestions for something to remove for Ambuscade Shaman?

Ambuscade Shaman is a second Primal Forcemage for your deck. Luminous Broodmoth lets you get double usage out of your creatures, and Thunderkin Awakener can bring them back as well. Thunderblust is another good suicide option.

Add Manamorphose and Street Wraith for consistency. Consider Empty the Warrens as well for another win condition. Also there are likely better creature targets in the Modern card pool, ideally with Haste. The first two that come to mind are Deus of Calamity and Thunderblust . It is definitely pretty nice and refreshing to see a new take on the All In Red deck.

I’m a little nervous on the Force of Savagery . They only work if you have an anthem out which you have 6 total in the deck from my count. And 4 of those are. Features that can be removed with all the most common removal which opens you up to some devastating 2 for 1s. If you just want high power and trample you can go with any Ball Lightning variant. Perhaps Lightning Skelemental or Spark Trooper . There is also the option of a threat that comes back such as your Thunderblust which could find a friend in Phytotitan .

I like the deck so far, the birthing pod line is very efficient and I will probably play test it in my list. Currently I think the biggest issue in the deck is speed which comes down to two things, ramp and redundancy.

First off is ramp, I would highly recommend running Dryad Arbor as it is absolutely insane in the right setup. First off at its worst its a summoning sick land, at its best its a turn one ramp spell off Green Sun's Zenith. It has insane synergy with Natural Order, Eldritch Evolution, etc. Additionally you could consider some fast single turn ramp with cards like Lotus Petal, Elvish Spirit Guide, Simian Spirit Guide, Rite of Flame, Seething Song With the spirit guides you also have the added benefit of being able to Survival of the Fittest/Fauna Shaman them for your combo pieces.

Now onto redundancy, especially with different typing. First off I think you could use redundant sac outlets, the best of which would be Thermopod who is a creature tutorable Phyrexian Altar (only for red) which doesn't seem all that good but just the creature typing and mana ability makes him worth it, especially with Lesser Masticore who at least in my build is by far the most efficient way to win. Cards like Thunderblust Protein Hulk also help redundancy but aren't fully necessary due to their inefficiency but can be pretty good with Sneak Attack and Elvish Piper. I also would highly recommend Ashnod's Altar as an additional sac outlet.

A few minor issues I had play testing this deck: Frequently getting mana screwed when trying to use Blood Moon effects. They are insanely good stax effects if dropped early, however you would probably need to drop some utility lands to use them efficiently.

Goblin Engineer lacking an artifact to sacrifice. This is an issue I had in my deck as well and hasn't gotten better and 6 artifacts just isn't enough to consistently use it.

Not having a wincon with Greater Good. This one is easily remedied yet again by adding fast mana. the issue is that drawing your deck off greater good does not always yield enough mana to play an actual wincon such as Goblin Bombardment. This issue happens when Mana Crypt is already in play.

The stax elements are very good but some are just too slow like Inferno Titan, Ruric Thar, the Unbowed

Overall a very good shell but it just needs to increase the speed or go deeper into stax to really create value out of the combo. Hope this helped a bit.

You really want to pump up Judith's ping ability? How about some poison? Grafted Exoskeleton , Glistening Oil , and Phyresis will make judith a scary lady. you can cast Tainted Strike in response to a board wipe to more than likely kill a player.

On the subject of getting more out of your creatures, try some of the undying or persisting creatures. Geralf's Messenger , Pyreheart Wolf , Flayer of the Hatebound , and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed will come back stronger. the other side of that, Murderous Redcap , Furystoke Giant , Puppeteer Clique , Thunderblust , and Rattleblaze Scarecrow all come back weaker, but come back for free, which is nice.

Other than that, I agree with a lot of what multimedia suggests.
