Introduction

Mono-Black, reanimator, control deck with Gonti, Lord of Luxury at the helm. It focuses on sacrificing and reanimating key creatures to control the board and generate large amounts of value. Gonti, Lord of Luxury in conjunction with a small suite of cards (Panharmonicon and Conjurer's Closet) allow you to abuse many powerful cards from your opponent's decks alongside the deck's main game-plan.

Enchantments

• Animate Dead
Cheap and efficient reanimation that can bring back not only our own creatures but also opponent's creatures.
• Greed
Part of the repeatable card draw suite. For the small cost of and 2 life you can draw a card at instant speed. Not quite as good as some of the other draw options in the deck but is a good inclusion for the sake of redundancy.
• Necropotence
Perhaps the best card draw engine in the deck. Allows us to easily refill our hands and usually wins us the game after its been out for a few turns.
• Phyrexian Arena
Draws us an extra card each upkeep for the measly cost of and 1 life per turn. Absolutely destroys in slower, more control oriented metas and a solid inclusion all-round.
• Phyrexian Reclamation
Lets us cheaply return creatures from the graveyard to hand to reuse etb effects and to replay powerful fatties etc.
• Vampiric Rites
A cheap sac outlet that lets us trade in creatures for cards and gains us life to boot. Used in order to allow us to reanimate our creatures for value.

Instants

• Hero's Downfall
Flexible instant speed removal that helps us deal with most creatures and planeswalkers in a pinch.
• Imp's Mischief
Redirect is an effect that is seldom seen in black and the fact that it only costs and some life is too hard to pass up. It has many uses from stealing targeted extra turn cards to stealing targeted draw and even stealing spot removal to protect our creatures, the potential uses are almost limitless!
• Malicious Affliction
Super efficient removal with the potential to take out two creatures with the morbid trigger and can take out one creature in a pinch.
• Rescue from the Underworld
Instant speed reanimation that lets us reuse an etb effect of a creature already on the battlefield all whle reanimating a creature from our graveyard. Only downside is that they don't come back until your next upkeep. Still a solid inclusion, however.
• Scour from Existence
One of only a few ways to deal with artifacts and enchantments in mono-black and this one exiles and is at instant speed.
• Silence the Believers
Creature exile for in black is already pretty good but the fact that it also exiles auras and can target extra creatures for an extra per creature makes this a worthwhile inclusion.
• Sudden Spoiling
Allows us to deal with whole boards of indestructible/hexproof/shroud creatures and can be really helpful when blocking. Oh yeah, and it has split second too.
• Supernatural Stamina
In conjunction with a sac outlet this card lets us easily abuse etb effects (and dies effects, looking at you Kokusho, the Evening Star) and can serve as a great combat trick letting us by letting us kill off an opposing blocker whilst keeping our own creature alive.
• Undying Evil
Same as Supernatural Stamina but gives the creature a +1/+1 counter as well. Arguably worse than Supernatural Stamina as it isn't as good of a combat trick and has a bad interaction with existing +1/+1 counters.
• Wake the Dead
Lets us recur a large amount of creatures for cheap to use as blockers and lets us reuse many etb/ltb/dies triggers for massive value. The potential for this card to be a massive bomb is huge.

Sorceries

• Beseech the Queen
A cheap, 3 mana tutor with a relatively minor downside. Can tutor for little to no black mana if necessary.
• Bontu's Last Reckoning
3 mana boardwipe with the downside of making us skip our next land untap. Useful in a pinch and the utility outweighs the downside.
• Decree of Pain
Part boardwipe suite but this one has card draw attached to it. Expensive but worth it. Can be cycled to clear out small creatures in a pinch.
• Diabolic Revelation
Endgame tutor that can easily search up a game winning hand with enough mana. Solid game finisher.
• Exsanguinate
Use this to win the game with large amounts of mana or use it to pull off a large lifeswing midgame.
• Increasing Ambition
Solid reusable tutor that can be reused to search for 3 cards total. Lets us search up reanimation targets/reanimation spells/wincons etc.
• Living Death
Mass reanimation and if the board/graveyard state it set up right can also be a board wipe at the same time for game ending power.
• Mutilate
Cheap 4 mana boardwipe that lets us deal with indestructible creatures and send our own creatures to the 'yard for future reaniamtion.
• Night's Whisper
Cheap, earlygame card draw and lets us sculpt our hand better.
• Read the Bones
For and 2 life we get to scry 2 and draw 2 cards giving us great hand sculpting power and card advantage.
• Sign in Blood
Same as Night's Whisper but for and lets us target any player.
• Torment of Hailfire
A more mana efficient version of Exsanguinate that can also be used to decimate opponent's hands and board states. However, it is weak to token based strategies.
• Victimize
Strong reanimation spell that brings back two creatures for the price of one. Solid inclusion all-round.

Planeswalkers

• Ob Nixilis Reignited
Essentially a Phyrexian Arena in the form of a planeswalker that can also destroy creatures and occasionally finish off opponents with the use of his -8. Powerful card all-round.

Lands

• Arcane Lighthouse
Utility land that lets us remove hexproof and shroud in order to improve the reach of our targeted removal.
• Bojuka Bog
Helps us deal with graveyard based decks and since it only targets a single player, doesn't draw the ire of the entire table. Oh, and it's on a land that taps for . What's not to love here?
• Buried Ruin
Lets us recur powerful artifacts (such as Panharmonicon) from the graveyard in a colour that doesn't get a whole lot of artifact recursion. Oh, and it taps for to boot.
• Crypt of Agadeem
This is a reanimator deck. This adds to our mana pool equal to the number of creatures in our graveyard. 'Nuff said.
• Ghost Quarter
Lets us deal with powerful non-basics and can let us lock multi-colour decks out from one or more of their colours.
• High Market
Another sac outlet but this one is a land. Sac outlets are so powerful in EDH (especially in mono-black) that this one was hard not to include.
• Myriad Landscape
A tad on the slow side but is ramp in the form of a land and it helps us get our coloured mana up to standards early-game.
• Reliquary Tower
Ahh, an EDH classic. Lets us hold a large hand of cards for even more options throughout the game (Particularly powerful with Necropotence).
• Swamp
Where would we be without them?
• Tectonic Edge
In here for the same reason as Ghost Quarter but is slower and doesn't let them fetch a basic land. Solid inclusion, especially in higher power metas.
• Temple of the False God
Helps us cast our big mana spells faster but can be risky and can sometimes ruin opening hands. However, the risk is outweighed by the reward.
