What defines aura?

Is it how good you are at Magic the Gathering? Is it how good you are at picking up girls?

Of course not, it is the Comprehensive rules for Magic the Gathering, section 303.4: "Some enchantments have the subtype “Aura.” An Aura enters the battlefield attached to an object or player. What an Aura can be attached to is defined by its enchant keyword ability (see rule 702.5, “Enchant”). Other effects can limit what a permanent can be enchanted by."

Bad jokes aside; auras are great, and what better commander than Arna Kennerud, Skycaptain to build an aura deck? In addition to that, what is more rewarding than NOT building a stax deck in esper coulours ()?

The basic principle of the deck is simple: first get some creatures on the board, second enchant those creatures with auras, third drop Arna Kennerud, Skycaptain and start attacking to double each and every aura (note how the growth is exponential), and finally profit and win.

Now let me show you the deck in better detail:

In addition to 35 lands the deck runs, I chose to run all 3 talismans, all 3 guild signets, the Sol Ring, the Arcane Signet, and the Thought Vessel to guarantee a strong manabase from early on. In addition to that the deck contains some discounts for auras, such as Danitha Capashen, Paragon, Killian, Ink Duelist, Pearl-Ear, Imperial Advisor, Starnheim Courser, and Transcendent Envoy; in order to get you on the board with enchanted creatures as soon as possible. Finally the deck contains a few cards that can cheat out auras for free as well, in the likes of Bruna, Light of Alabaster, Danitha, Benalia's Hope, Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice, and Zur the Enchanter *f-etch*. The result is that you should have no problem affording most, if not all, of the auras the deck has to offer before getting your commander payoff.

The deck runs quite a bit of card draw as well, obviously not as strong as a Rhystic Study would be, but I hate the constant "do you pay the one?", and this deck is not supposed to be high bracket. The list of cards that draw you other cards goes: Breena, the Demagogue, Entity Tracker, Kor Spiritdancer, Mesa Enchantress, Pearl-Ear, Imperial Advisor, Sram, Senior Edificer, Combat Research, Nerd Rage, Ordeal of Thassa, Righteous Authority, Sage's Reverie, Staggering Insight, and Unquestioned Authority. Note that both Nerd Rage and Righteous Authority both are payoffs for having a big handsize, which is achieveable thanks to Thought Vessel and Reliquary Tower.

I will not list all of the cards that sinergise with Arna Kennerud, Skycaptain's effect well, but will only give the basics. I think that in this deck there are 3 effects that sinergise amazingly with the commander's effect: first the "stacking" buffs, all those auras and equipments that read "equipped/enchanted creature has +1/+1 for each aura/equipment/enchanment" (ex. All That Glitters, Auramancer's Guise, etc.); second any aura or equiment that gives the creature the ward effect (for those who don't know, the ward effect stacks on a single creature, so if a creature has ward-1 AND ward-2 any opponent that wishes to target it must pay 1 for the first trigger and 2 for the second trigger, because each instance of ward triggers separetly), and finally any ETB effect, both on the aura, or on some creatures (notably Entity Tracker). Let's not forget Contractual Safeguard too, that can protect your whole board from most removals and damage thanks to the fact that the shield counters can be doubled by Arna Kennerud, Skycaptain.

At the same time that I made this deck I also made another deck for Arna Kennerud, Skycaptain that is entirely based around equiments rather than auras, that deck is How many equipments did you need exactly??
