The deck aims to ramp really hard into an early Sheoldred, and gain tremendous card advantage using cards that benefit from creatures dying and cards that make extra use out of cards in the Graveyard. My favorite little interaction is with Sheoldred and Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed. By sacrificing Xiahou Dun, and reanimating him with Sheoldred, you can bring back any kind of non colorless card in the deck to your hand. This is a rare ability in mono black, and can be pretty powerful with cards like Living Death.
