That is, unless the ruler is the unruliest of them all!

This is my take on a Malfegor discard/reanimator deck with a dragon subtheme. Notably, this deck is less about keeping everyone's hands empty and more about just discarding cards for value and wheeling through your deck to find answers and wincons.

The gameplan consists of preparing to cast Malfegor, with cards based around refilling your hand (Asylum Visitor, Blood Scrivener, Ghirapur Orrery, Wheel of Fate, Magus of the Wheel, Dragon Mage, Ob Nixilis Reignited) and cards that reward you for discarding cards (Bag of Holding, Anger, Archfiend of Ifnir, Bonemiser, etc.). You can also get a powerful hand cycling engine with cards that cause you to end the turn at zero cards (Avaricious Dragon, Midnight Oil, and Sire of Insanity) alongside the aforementioned hand refillers. Whenever you draw into a reanimation spell, your graveyard should have at least one major threat to toss out.

I chose a dragon subtheme because many of the cards that synergize with Malfegor's gameplan already were dragons (Dragon Mage, Runehorn Hellkite, Avaricious Dragon), as is he, so tossing in a few dragon lords does wonders for the deck's lethality. Using Lathliss, Kolaghan, or Bladewing to pump Malfegor reduces his hits to kill from 4 to 3, and reduces Skithiryx's hits to kill from 3 to 2. Focusing in on dragons also gives you some other minor synergies in the way of card draw with Dragon's Hoard and Sarkhan, Fireblood, who can power out your more expensive dragons when he isn't busy discarding other creatures to reanimate, like Rune-Scarred Demon and Utvara Hellkite. Some Dragons, like Bone Dragon or Boneyard Scourge, are able to reanimate themselves and thus make good discard options.
