Welcome to the primer of the truly underappreciated commander Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero ! My goal is to show how you can make a mono white deck that can hold it's own at 50%-75% tables.

Why Mono White? Why Lin Sivvi? Show

Mono white decks in EDH have an absolutely horrid reputation. Without a doubt it is the most maligned color pairing in EDH, probably just below boros. There are a couple reasons why you may be interested in playing mono white in EDH however.

If you've played white in other formats, you may be aware that white has the single largest piece of the color pie, in that it can do everything outside of hard card draw. White has removal for every type of permanent at instant speed, including the top two pieces of spot removal in magic history with Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshares . It can reanimate any permanent from the graveyard, and while black has better single shot, creature reanimation spells, white has reanimation engine's such as Sun Titan and Emeria, The Sky Ruin . While white can't counter combo or other degenerate decks on the stack outside of spot removal, it can shut down entire archetypes with enchantments like Rest in Peace , Rule of Law , Solemnity and Stony Silence , as well as creatures versions such as Thalia, Guardian of Thraben which can stop your opponents deck's while killing them and wearing equipment. Finally, white has the second best tutor suite in the game (after black of course.) Here is a scryfall search for . White can tutor for anything besides spells and large creatures, with several aggressively costed tutors for equipment, auras, planeswalkers, lands, dorky creatures, and rebels. Finally, white decks have excellent two and 3 card engines to take over a game.

All these things sound fantastic for a mono colored deck! However, white has two incredible hurdles you must overcome when building your commander deck.

For starters, there are very few white cards that draw cards on their own.

Secondly, white's commanders are tend to be atrocious at being generals of mono white decks, because they both don't rectify the card draw problem, and because they don't support the things that white decks are good at.

Eidolon of Rhetoric : Our very best hatebear. This messes up any deck that operates faster than a precon, and almost no combo can break through it. Lin Sivvi breaks parity by cheating our rebels into play, and the life.dec combo only requires very few spells to be cast. It also means our opponents will have less blockers against our mirror entity kills.

Thalia, Guardian of Thraben , Glowrider , Vryn Wingmare : Very few spell based combos work through these cards, and midrange decks get a minor speedbump. Thalia and Wingmare are excellent at holding equipment as well (skullclamp synergy!). People hate this effect, so be prepared when someone rationally or irrationally removes one of these guys.

Spirit of the Labyrinth : This guy makes everyone draw cards at your pace. Fantastic against midrange and combo decks.
