Karador, Ghost Chieftain: Permanent Exile

Commander / EDH BGW (Abzan, Junk) Lifegain Reanimator

jragon.black

This reanimator Karador, Ghost Chieftain deck is focused on gaining tons of life and exiling permanents from other players via sacrificing. Repeatedly sending cards to permanent exile with cards like Ashen Rider and Archon of Justice .

LIFE GAIN. Exsanguinate is an incredible life gain tool gaining you huge chunks of life and potentially ending the game in the right situation. Serra Ascendant is an auto-include and Angelic Chorus is amazing for turning every creature ETB into a life gaining engine. Kokusho, the Evening Star can net a huge life total swing in your direction on death.

SACRIFICE. The intent here is to keep trashing our own creatures for benefit to us and misery for our opponents so we run a variety of effective sacrifice outlets. Circle of Despair keeps you and your creatures safe from harm. Sidisi, Undead Vizier and razaketh, the foul blooded sac a creature to go find anything you need. Attrition and any creature makes it tough for opponents to keep creatures around and any with death triggers and Teysa Karlov in play the death triggers all happen a second time.

REANIMATION. Getting stuff back in play is a key part of this deck's strategy and the pieces used to do that include Athreos, God of Passage which gives the power to your opponents at the cost of 3 life. Meren of Clan Nel Toth brings anything you want back either to your hand or to play depending on the CMC compared to your experience counters. Debtors' Knell lets you return any creature from the grave so opponent's things you kill off can end up yours to use.

There is plenty of sacrifice fodder in the deck that will keep you alive Spore Frog or net you land or cards Eternal Witness but you can sacrifice just about anything comfortably knowing that you are going to be getting it right back in short order.

This deck is extremely versatile and a fun to play and if you build this deck or a version of it let me know! I'd love to know what you think!

[Disclaimer] My commander decks are aimed at playing commanders/colors in a slightly unexpected way. I also impose a deckbuilding challenge on myself and aim to use cards that are helpful to the deck objective but do not get used in other decks I construct (so an obvious include may be omitted because of its use elsewhere in another build).
