Friends, Invalids, and Man-children, gather around... It is time to tell you the tale of my journey into Castle Super Beast..

Many among you may have heard propaganda, about how it was used for stealing pies and telling lies, or how it was simply a place of worship for myths, legends and adorable deities...

These tales are somewhat true, but let me tell you what lies beyond the menacing aura, beyond the castle walls, and even beyond the inner bloody palaces...

Let us Begin with the End

The story ends with a heartbreaking truth which cut deeply into our souls, and leaves a scar which aches dully in the heart and mind. Two friends, of some say who were the best of, and maybe even to the point of super; these two Super Best Friends suddenly became naught. This ending would end not just our story, but end a friendship, and, as it says in ancient scrawlings, "Zaibatsu." What the word means and what they were... well, let's just say they were two different things and leave it at that.

Those who followed them did not question why or how. They simply bowed their heads in understanding as it was out of their power to mend such things.

Silence + Grand Abolisher + Lethal Vapors + Teferi's Protection You'll need ten mana open. At least 4 , 2 , and .
  1. Turn Begins. Untap, & at your Upkeep cast Silence. Continue to your main phase.
  2. Cast Grand Abolisher. Remember to do this before the next step.
  3. Cast Lethal Vapors. Pay the ability, then in response to paying and activating it's ability, do it again. Repeat this process until the stax reaches 1,000.
  4. In response to the 1,000th stax, play Teferi's Protection
Essentially, you are removing yourself from the game for 1,000 turns. During those turns, your opponents will deck themselves out before you even rejoin the game. It is by no means invincible. There a great many holes in this combo. I usually ask after casting it if anyone at the table has the following: a.) Instant win-cons, like Lab-Man, or Felidar Sovereign. b.) A way to stop drawing cards, like Necropotence c.) Graveyard Recursion d.) A way to stop themselves from losing. Platinum Angel for example.

Nihil Expecto, Libera Minus

Approaching the gates and passing through the various walls of vapor and fog banks, there lay a gate locked to those who know not the ways. Above the castle gates is a coat of arms with that haunting phrase made of pig-iron gilded in silver. Nihil Expecto, Libera Minus. Translated, it means Expect Nothing, Deliver Less. An odd creed, even for the time it was made. Yet, passing through the gates, as I feel the castle loom in the moonless night, I could still feel the echoes of power permeating my being... Yet I did not even pass into the menacing aura surrounding the castle itself.

Grand Architect + Pili-Pala
Kick Lightkeeper of Emeria for amount of life, followed by Aetherflux Reservoir. Punch all your opponents in order for all that life you gained.
Cast Avacyn, Angel of Hope and follow it up with Soul Echo for . With the power of Avacyn's stand, 「SOUL ECHO」 you become as indestructible as her stand. Downside: King Crimson can still make your stand disappear.

The Teachings and the Hidden Teachings

I won't dwell much upon the obvious teachings which i found upon my findings in the Rhystic Study. We all know about the sharks made of urea, and of buggoids, fart gas, and the date of MahVel. No, no... I wanted to find something more, and so I took my leave of the study. After aimlessly wandering for who knows how long, I found myself observing a curious sight. A Drift of Phantasms were guarding an iauspicious hole in the floor. I dare not approach lest the castle find my presence disturbing. Through their moans and groans, I deciphered that it was a "Woolie Hole." An entrance to the Undercity of Castle Super Beast. These phantasms were the remnants of a few followers whom could not bare themselves to leave the castle, nor the hole. It was fascinating... I hadn't realized I had lowered my guard until it was too late.

THIS IS AMAZING.

The power to tutor out cards at the cost of mana?!?! HELL YES. Wait, it also includes other shenanigans like counterspells, creatures and other things?!?!? BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! They're all common!!

With my deck, use the obvious tutors and the secret tutors to grab out Combo 1 or Combo 2 easily out of the deck and play it around turn 10 if you've been keeping up with land drops.

Suddenly, I was Attacked by a Majestic Beast!

It was a large adorable deific presence! The ferocious feline whom only would succumb to the will and adoration of their masters! It was upon me and i had scarcely the time to spare. I ran through the endless corridors, dodging death at every turn. The castle had found me! It wanted me to leave. It wanted me to die. Before too long, found myself atop the highest level of the castle. High above the clouds... That is where I saw him. The Sultan of Sit.

Flash + Felidar Sovereign
Cast Flash at the beginning of your upkeep, followed by Felidar Sovereign. You do not need to pay it's cost, but it helps if you believe it helps.

I could Feel the Storm.

There he sat, thunder rummbling in his breath and lightning crackling in every muscle fiber from head to toe. So powerful was he that he never even needed to stand for his post. This bottled lightning of a man was the guardian of this castle. Every single trap and defense was his own power channeled into the castle. Was he the proof? Would the masters of this castle return to relieve him? The glow in his eyes held no answer. He would not know. He may never know. Yet, despite this lingering doubt, he would not falter or even yield. As I stood in his presence, he did not rise to meet me. He didn't need to. I could feel something choking the life from my very body. It was the curse of The Nomad Soul. It was there that I knew I stood better chance of facing the adorable deity than him.

Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond
Just gain life or wait for your next upkeep. The most shameful way to win in my opinion though.

And so ends my journey...

But the adventures and legends lay in waiting for those wanting to find them. It all lies deep within that castle...

Hey~ This is a deck that I have fallen in love with! Built from scratch and using a few combos that I never used before, but always had hiding in my collection. It is basically pillowfort, but to me it reignited a passion for magic that was on it's way out. In short, this has reignited the planeswalking spark within me!

On another note, this deck was also constructed around the same time as one of my favorite youtube content creators decided to end their channel and go their separate ways. If you know the Super Best Friends, then I greet you with a friendly smile and a shoulder to cry on. If not, I cannot recommend their content enough. They are very fun to be listen to, and are just an entertaining bunch of guys. Anyways, I made a bit of lore based on their separation. I really hope that their endeavors moving forward will be successful, and also hold out a small hope that both Matt and Pat can be friends once more. Even if the channel does not come back, I just want these guys to maybe taste a little bit of the recognition that they have given others.
