Azusa, Lost but Seeking EDH

Casual edh deck centered around "high power" and "fun". No infinite combos, lots of opportunity for opponents to interact.

Deck Philosophy

Ramp ramp ramp, play big stuff and then refill your hand. Card draw is especially important with Azusa, because the more cards you draw, the more lands you can put into play.

"Why aren't there any eldrazi in this deck?"

The deck building reason is that they don't contribute considerably to the themes of the deck. Tooth and Nail wouldn't proc the cast triggers, and they contribute nothing to the mono-green devotion sub-theme. The personal reason is deck identity. I already own an Eldrazi deck, and I like to have different kinds of decks, so I would rather make my mono-green ramp deck have nothing to do with them.

Why Azusa, and not Omnath or Selvala?

The biggest reason is vulnerability. Omnath and Selvala decks both hinge on their commander surviving long enough for them to untap, But ideally Azusa can just be played, dump out two lands, and then she could die, but you'll still be up five lands. Lands on the whole are also much more durable than creatures.

What is the ideal hand for this Deck?

Our most favorable hand will let us get tons of mana up so that we can get Azusa out as early as possible. It will probably look something like this: Forest, Forest, Forest, Jeweled Lotus, Llanowar Tribe, Leatherback Baloth, and Rishkar's Expertise. This lets us spit out a ton of mana, get a big monster, and then refill our hand so we can do it all again, gradually gaining more and more mana to use.
