"They became a people apart, unlike their kin, save that they loved water, and dwelt most beside falls and running streams. Greater knowledge they had of living things, tree and herb, bird and beast, than all other Elves"

-Quenta Silmarillion, "Of the Coming of the Elves and the Captivity of Melkor"

I'm relatively new to MTG, but I've been obsessed ever since I first discovered it.

I've developed a growing interest in the Commander/EDH format, particularly in competitive.

I'm a big fantasy fan, so I decided to build a deck devoted to my favorite archetype, the mysterious and reclusive elf.

- This mono-green elfball deck is optimized for a combo-centric ramp playstyle. It emphasizes on heavy mana generation, which is used to gain access to card advantage or tutoring, for either comboing off or finding a win condition.

The playstyle focuses on explosive growth, as the deck is capable of ramping aggressively, protecting critical pieces, and closing the game with overwhelming power or infinite combos.

- Establish a board of mana dorks such as Bloom Tender, Devoted Druid, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves for increased mana resources. Marwyn, the Nurturer scales with each elf that ETB, allowing her to tap for significant mana. Early turns should focus on getting her and other ramp onto the field.

Cards such as Beast Whisperer, Glimpse of Nature, Guardian Project and Realmwalker help with maintaining the momentum of mana production and board presence. Autumn's Veil, Eladamri, Lord of Leaves, Heroic Intervention, Steely Resolve, Sylvan Safekeeper and Veil of Summer offer protection against board wipes and removal.

With an established board and significant ramp, tutoring and casting win conditions such as Craterhoof Behemoth, Finale of Devastation and Triumph of the Hordes for overwhelming damage becomes available. Alternatively, another option is leveraging infinite mana combos for a win with Walking Ballista/Wildborn Preserver.

- Marwyn, the Nurturer + Umbral Mantle

If Marwyn can tap for at least three mana, equipped she can untap repeatedly, producing infinite mana.

With Marwyn tapping for five or more, SOD can then untap her for infinite mana. With this resource, the deck can also be drawn out.

Creates infinite tokens for swarm win. Alternatively, can combo with Itlimoc, Cradle of the Sun  /Gaea's Cradle/Three Tree City + Walking Ballista/Wildborn Preserver for a win condition.

Infinite mana (via Marwyn or other combos), can cast both Ballista and Preserver with an arbitrarily large amount of counters to deal lethal damage.

Overall, given the numerous low-cmc creatures and spells (outside of win conditions), this deck aims for speed and efficiency.

Being proactive and combo-oriented with a "go big/go wide" strategy, it can pivot into an infinite combo win if pressured by aggressive opponents.

  • Pros

Strong Mana Base + Ramp, Powerful Tutors, Protection + Resilience, Combo Potential.

  • Cons

Reliance on creature-based combos, Speed (relative to top cEDH decks), Limited Interaction.

In a cEDH setting, this deck could perform well but may struggle against the fastest and most disruptive decks. In high-power casual settings, it would likely dominate.

If you've read this far, you have my thanks. Any card suggestions to improve this deck would be appreciated.
