TIME TO GET BIG

Reasons to play Omnath, Locus of Mana:

  • If you like playing mono-green.

  • If you want to be nearly unstoppable in 1v1 matches.

  • If you want to be hated off the board almost instantly in multi-man games.

  • If getting to turn 7 with 50 mana in your pool is something you'd enjoy.

  • If you want commander damage as your main focus.

How should I play this deck? What's the main strategy?

The answer is to get big, become unblockable, and to steamroll opponents with commander damage from Omnath as quickly as possible. Your ramp is large and your commander makes it so that you can use high cost cards very quickly(much faster than most opponents).

This deck as-is contains a large number of mana doublers/additional mana enchantments and artifacts. While these cards are amazing in most decks for obvious reasons, Omnath's main abilities make it so much better. You don't lose green mana from your pool when steps end, and he gets +1/+1 for each green mana in that pool.

As long as you pull 3 Lands into your opening hand, you should be fine under most circumstances(You will be able to pull your commander on turn 3 minimum, but able to pull him on turn 2 with the right luck Burgeoning, Sakura-Tribe Scout, Arbor Elf, Sol Ring, etc.)

After Omnath hits the field you will be able to pump him full of mana on your next turn(which you can use at any given time since it will not burn between steps/turns) and be able to swing for some commander damage. After this you can play any mana multiplying card like Vernal Bloom, Seedborn Muse, Gauntlet of Power, etc.

From there you just go nuts with the amount of mana in your pool and add any equipment or enchantments you can pull from your deck. With the amount of counters you'll likely have on Omnath, you should be capable of lethal damage with every swing past turn 6 or 7. The thing that will most likely be holding you back would be chump blockers and sorceries that target your commander. Fortunately this deck is set up with many trample/hexproof/shroud/ effects, which should cause your opponent to start praying for topdeck boardwipes.

Takeaways and possible issues:

This probably isn't the deck you'll want to bring to tournaments because it doesn't carry enough removal or tools to counter boardwipes, but it is fun for some silly mid-level beatstick action.

There are other(and better) mana multipliers such as Mana Reflection, Extraplanar Lens, or even Keeper of Progenitus that you won't see in this deck that are worthwhile to use. The only reason that these aren't in here is that I don't own them just yet! Consider swapping some cards around with these if you have them.

This is probably one of the most straightforward decks I can think of. Your opponents, if familiar with this deck, will know your plan every game prior to the first turn, so it wont be surprising if they gang up on you while you're still trying to get Omnath onto the field. Cheap blue counters are your enemy and will start delaying Omnath and increasing the cost per attempt to pull him.

Due to this, its extremely worth your time to go ahead and place hexproof or shroud equipment on Omnath the moment you can. They're cheap enough and keep your opponents in check.

Even if you don't play or like Omanth, if you do run Mono-Green you should absolutely run Hall of Gemstone. It's very cheap() and ruins multicolored decks potentially from turn 3.

Helix Pinnacle, Momentous Fall, and Heroes' Bane are all fun options when you think things might be going south for poor Omnath. Shoving all of your mana into Helix Pinnacle might actually win you the game. Momentous Fall will let you draw an enormous amount of cards from your deck which you should be able to give you some nice options to keep rolling(you also get a huge life boost too!). Heroes' Bane, if you have him on the battlefield, will let you pump all of your available mana in groups of 4's to double his strength each time(this adds up extremely fast as 20 mana would make him a 128/128).

Plannar Bridge is one of my favorite cards in this deck. With Omnath's big 'ol pool of mana you can just drag crazy permanents onto the field each turn ( Akroma's Memorial, Nylea, God of the Hunt, Terastodon, Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger, etc.).

That's it!

Omnath is real simple, but real strong.

Thanks for taking the time to read through all of this nonsense, and if you have any suggestions for making this deck better I'd appreciate the advice.
