Jojo's Bizzare Land Ventures

Commander / EDH* Jank Lands Mono-Green

LeadfootSlim

Bludgeon your enemies with real estate. It's free damage!

Sometimes you don't want to bother with mana rocks, fetchlands, hybrid mana symbols and all that business. Sometimes you just want to pick a color and do what it does best. And what Green does best is get lands and beat people up. So why not beat people with your lands?

The aim of the deck is three fold:

1) As in any good green deck, RAMP. While some expected bits are in here, there are some fun curveballs like One with Nature and Silverglade Pathfinder. We have no mana doublers of any kind, instead preferring to go all-in on increasing our land count.

2) Play big beaters that scale with land count, ranging from starters like Dungrove Elder to finishers like Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar or Molimo, Maro-Sorcerer. These beaters are then taken advantage of with fight cards and Soul's Majesty to protect and sustain the late game. Buffs like Rancor, Aspect of Mongoose and Swiftfoot Boots keep them useful, while Strata Scythe and Blanchwood Armor are crazy power doublers out of nowhere, or appoint an otherwise useless goon as our beater du jour. Dragon Throne of Tarkir ties into the second half of our strategy by turning that absurd P/T into a resuable buff for the manlands.

3) Turn our hideous surfeit of lands into damage using Jolrael, Empress of Beasts' ability or spells like Sylvan Awakening, Rude Awakening or Natural Affinity. Boosting them with Earth Surge and Sylvan Advocate is a nice bonus, but may not always be necessary. Wakeroot Elemental or Hunting Wilds provide additional man-land pressure, while Howl of the Night Pack is a great one-card comeback. The optimal grand finale uses Vitalize, Early Harvest, Summer Bloom and a full grip of cards to storm off, finishing with an untap and swing with as many manlands and/or steroid beaters as we can to win.

To survive long enough to make this crazy business work, a generous amount of removal, recursion and defense (I hope) is included. Fight cards like Setessan Tactics, Ulvenwald Tracker and Monstrous Onslaught let us take advantage of our big beaters. Other notable mentions include Traproot Kami, a reach blocker that scales from your Forests and your enemies'!

If this seems like a charmingly janky deck, just remember; lands are immune to Cyclonic Rift.

Also, this deck is two cards over the limit to include Hum of the Radix and Viridian Revel... because I don't like Smothering Tithe.
