Hello, this is the first in a series of somewhat competitive EDH decks around $100 that are made for players new to the format. You won't be winning any major tournaments with these, but they are a great starting place for someone looking to get into this fast growing format. If you want to find more, check out my profile where I will be posting as many of these as I can make

It's only right that we start with one of the most popular budget commanders, Phenax, God of Deception . This deck is quite clearly focused on milling out your opponents, either through the ability of Phenax or through the instant win combo of Duskmantle Guildmage + Mindcrank . The deck is fairly simple to play as you just want to stall the game out and stop as much damage as you can while slowly reducing your opponents deck to nothing.

There are several ways you can upgrade this deck that i would have loved to include but went a bit over budget.

Intruder Alarm This addition depends mostly on your local meta, as this deck does not run enough creatures to take full advantage of this card. If your LGS has lots of creature focused decks, than they could allow you to tap your creatures even more than usual.

Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver This is a very powerful card on its own, but when paired with the rest of our mill, it can unleash its full power. 3 extra cards milled a turn isn't bad, but those cards can then be used to your advantage by stealing other players strongest creatures and using them to mill even more.

Archive Trap Searching Libraries is a big part of commander and this card will let you punish players for doing exactly that.

Demonic Tutor This card is played in almost every deck that can play it and there is a very good reason for that. Diabolic Tutor is already a very strong card in this format, and Demonic is a strict upgrade. The ability to find any card in your deck for only 2 mana is incredibly powerful in 60 card decks, and can be game winning in 100 card decks.
