Cycle all day!

I got sick of my old Zur Voltron deck, so I thought I'd catch a ride on the cycling train that was all the rage for a couple days. However, while most lists focus on Astral Slide, I thought I'd take a different route.

Whenever you cycle a card you draw a card, right? So, how can you take advantage of this? First of all, Alhammarret's Archive causes you to draw two cards instead of only one. That's pretty good, a solid foundation to build on, but what next? Well, how about you add something that cares about how many cards you draw? Yeah, Psychosis Crawler seems like a good add. Of course, if you're cycling all the time anyway, might as well use things like Drake Haven, Faith of the Devoted, and even the classic Astral Slide that Zur can easily Tutor up. Then, to top it all off, New Perspectives lets you do almost everything for free. Sounds pretty good. The final card in the cycling theme is Abandoned Sarcophagus, which was really a game-changer for this deck. Before, you always had to make a choice when you cycled a card: do you ditch the card and draw? Or do you keep the card and maybe use it later? Well, now that question is no more! As far as your cycling cards are concerned, your graveyard is now your second hand! Just remember to keep track of the Instants you cycle into there so you can use them at the right time!

Now, let's talk about Zur himself. Although I tried to steer away from making this purely a Voltron-style deck, he is still very necessary to the running of the deck. He tutors out the little enchantments I need to help with cycling or removal, as well as some cards to help protect himself. Shielded by Faith and Steel of the Godhead keep Zur out of harm's way wile the rest of the game goes on around him, allowing him to freely attack every turn. Then, when you're all set to draw tons of cards in one turn, Diviner's Wand and Emperial Armor ensure that when he wants to hit hard, he can.
